..... and I probably have a lot of questions I'll be coming here to ask.

A great deal on a black 2014 Ultimate (I think?) fell into my lap, and I couldn't pass it up. So I didn't. Every single previous car I've ever owned has been a Celica. My Genesis is several hundred pounds heavier, and literally has 200 more horsepower than what I was used to. I'm already spoiled by the power. But I'm not into the street racing or drifting scene, which might disappoint some people.

First question, for drivers with way more varied experience than me: is shifting a RWD manual 6-speed 6-cylinder very different from driving a FWD 5-speed 4-cylinder? If so, I might be doing it wrong. It doesn't seem like it wants to rev as high as my old Celica. I'm slowly getting used to the clutch.

Second: WTF is up with the backup sensor? I know the three double-beeps means it's failed ... but that only happens maybe a third of the time. Why does functionality come and go? It doesn't seem to matter what temperature it is, or humidity, or time of day.

Third: this car was used, obviously, and seems to have had a lot of work done, so I'm not sure how things are supposed to be. There are no daytime running lights? In my old Celica, they were built into the main headlight enclosure, and were automatic. You couldn't shut them off. All I seem to have is fog lights. And it looks like there are LED strips over each light, but I can't get them to turn on. Any ideas on that one?

Fourth: any really easy modifications I should think about doing right away? ("Easy" meaning something like changing the sun visor. Don't ask me to put on a cold air intake, I don't have the patience. :nerd: ) Anything that's likely going to break soon that I should worry about?

I absolutely love this car, I should probably mention that.

Congrats on your new ride, i also own a 14 3.8 ultimate auto in black. On the ultimate you should have the LED strips, they should come on with the headlamp switch in the parking light position or in the auto position as long as theres enough light to make the headlights stay off, also they wont come on at all with the parking brake engaged. Compared to the celica, i wouldn't imagine you would need to rev up the 3.8 as much with about 300 foot pounds of torque avalible, unless you want to get sideways, nothing wrong with that, just practice in a open parking lot with nothing to hit. Probably the easiest and best bang for the buck first mod would be a Tros or Sprint throttle booster, ( i got the Sprint), super easy to install, literally one bolt and two plug ins.

Well .... after I posted, I actually took off my bumper cover to see those lights more clearly. Looks like things had been "repaired" at some point, so I'm not even sure what wires are supposed to go where. I'll have to look more closely when I get a minute. But that would explain my lack of LEDs.
