Just bought a new shift boot but I can't figure out how to take the old one out. I think I have to push out the 8 grey clips you see in line with the staples but when I push on them it requires so much force I feel like i'm going to break them. Has anyone replaced the shift boot on the manual 2010 coupe before? This is the only resource i could find (step 3) but it's to vague plus it says only 6 clips so i have no idea what it's talking about. 2008-12 Hyundai Genesis Coupe shift boot installation

Update: I managed to take it out and replace it. Just follow the steps in the link above that's what I did. The 8 grey clips will be a b**ch to take out.

Yes, the gray clips need to be freed and the black part with staples comes loose. PITA.
I managed to free 6/8 clips but the last 2 wouldn't budge. I ended up reinstalling it the way it is and will try again some other time. Thanks for the conformation.
