Someone in a truck (or big SUV) decided to hit me while I was at work on the weekend :wtc:. Here are a few photos. I am trying to decide if its worth fixing or just replacing the fender. I contaced my dealer and they quoted me approx. 600 to replace it (painted and install). I was also thinking of PDR but there is a 3 inch crack in the paint and I am not sure if they would be able to pull it out.

So sad, I've had the car almost two years, less than 20,000 km on it and THIS happens...I always park miles away from everyone...stupid hick albertans with big trucks :ugh:

600 doesn't sound bad for a new fender and paint. I was recently hit and had damage to my door, fender, and bumper all needing repaint, and it came out to 1200. The wheel added another 200. The easiest way to find out about the paint/crack is to take it to a good PDR shop and see what they suspect. They'll be much better at assessing than us.

Sorry about your luck :(
You could also just get the fender repainted. I had a shop hammer out the fender and blended the base coat and resprayed the entire clear coat for around $300.
A new fender are you kidding me? Thats an easy fix. Putting on a new panel isnt always whats best, it can be fixed and painted in a day or two. New panels dont always align 100%
man i feel for you, had someone screw up their parking and leave some scratches on my car today too -__-
Thats light enough to just wet sand with 2000 grit. And since its white, its a non metalic, so no clear coat.

as for the ripple, can get it fixed at a body shot easy, shouldn't take more than like an hours work.

Wait are you saying white doesnt have clear? Because it sure does

Single stage paint. (really means 2 stage)

Primer and base coat. Base coat is an enamel mixed with some clear. Go to NAPA collision center and see what they say.
I had a similar problem (except I watched the old truck back his tailgate into my driver side fender and then drive off). If it is a true crack at the rolled edge of the fender, I would just replace it. It is not worth getting it rusted out or some other issue that starts to mess with all the paint to where you have to replace the fender and paint it anyway. To be honest that is a good price to replace, prep, paint, and install. Mine ran me about 1K
Thanks for your suggestions guys.

I went to a few body shops and got some quotes done. I am so picky with my car I am not about to bring it to PDR then have it spot painted. Another suggested to not even pulling the dent out and to cover it with some bondo/fiberglass stuff, sand it and spot paint it - given that they don't colour match OR guarantee their work, it would still cost me 5 bills. So I am taking it to guy who will bang out the dent, use no type of bondo crap, sand it down and paint it, not only on the spot but to blend it into the door and hood as well as replacing the 3m for 600...I thought that is the best bet...Best thing about it too...lifetime warranty! woop woop!
that sucks man sorry to hear about that. good luck on the repair!

It is for sure the worst feeling
