driving home sunday night on the back road less than a quarter mile from my house and a dog decided to pop out from a ditch and walk into the middle of my lane. i quickly moved over to the next lane to avoid it and to my surprise the god damn animal (mid sized roughly 60 pounds) ran towards my car into the next lane. needless to say i hit the bastard going about 45 mph (the speed limit). god damn dog had to pick a brand new car to commit suicide. $500 deductible and a new front bumper, fog light assembly, washer resovoir, and wheel well cover

Wow. Sorry about your luck.
I had a dog pop up in font of me on a very twisty section of road with nowhere to go. A great introduction to ABS in a panic stop. The road was very dusty and when I kicked the brakes the ABS allowed me to steer the slide as the car came to a stop. I ended up beside the dog instead of on top of him.

Hope you get your ride back soon, good luck.
Maybe it's that one small PETA bone in my body, but I think it sucks way more for the dog. Dontcha think?
sucks for you but that "god damn animal" was probably sombody's pet...ya know, maybe a young toddler's play buddy :dunno:

Depending on local laws, if the dog had tags and you can find the owner, if the dog wasn't leashed, you can claim the deductible form him, since the dog is is responsibility.

Over here if an unleashed dog is the source of damages or bodily harm, hte owner is responsible for it, since local laws ask owner to keep their dogs on leashes @ all times.

BTW I love animals, but the problem here would be with the owner, if there's one.
no offense to your PETA bone but F the dog. i would feel bad if it was running away from my car and i ran it over, but after avoiding it the stupid thing it runs at the car, i feel nothing for it. i would have attempted to stop but it was a little too close unfortunately
dog had no collar and there are countless dogs in the neighborhood that are strays. deductible will be covered by only me. these country foke (nice way of putting it) don't like spending money on their pets so none get fixed. due to this there is countless road kill surrounding my house
New Title

More like "Dogs hate you"

I guess its a different perspective for those of us who have pets.
And if your area has as many strays as you say, you cant count on this happening again.

I'm pretty sure the dog didn't purposely get in the way of your precious little bumper. Maybe you should swerve AND brake next time.

My point is, have a heart. It sucks your car got jacked up AND it sucks the dog died.
i actually have a dog and 3 cats, so i have a heart. and if i swirved and braked i would have slid the car into the ditch, which would have resulted in the car being upside down. i cared more about myself and my fiance's well being than that of a dogs who went in front of my car twice. this was a small country road 2 small lanes, deep ditches on either side. people need to care more about their dogs, not taking care of them and letting them run around as they please, not taking them to the vet, if they are honestly going to cry about it getting hit by a car
A few months ago I hit the biggest F'n Raccoon I ever seen in my life. It ran out in front and hit my side skirt and rear tire. Needless to say my tire pretty much shredded the thing. Beleive it or not, I had no damage, but the back of my was covered in poop. (Yes, it pooped itself).

I despise hitting animals, and make every attempt in the world to avoid hitting anything, even a field mouse. Sometimes you cant avoid it though.
Ived almost crashed my car trying to avoid a dog.
