Injen Intakes

I did a lot of search lately on the intakes, but there is one question that hasn't been answered. Would the Cold Intakes save fuel???

The intakes usually add up to 14hp to the 3.8L Gen coupes, but most of the vendors say that it is also economical to buy one and save on fuel....I mean how is this possible??? More HP with Intake?

Thanks:dunno:

By increasing the air flow (allowing the engine to breathe more freely) it allows you to conserve fuel. Sure its added performance when youre on it hard, but and normal speeds the engine isnt working as hard to breathe. Therefore, you get better gas mileage. Same concept goes along with an exhaust.
So it is worth to buy one right? I don't drive fast or crazy with the Gen yet, but I just wanted to make sure that it does save on fuel....

Thanks
an intake will increase your fuel mileage if you dont drive like i do lol (im rough on cars, and still get great mileage on the hightway) And will add alot of good sound to the car. Its up to you on what you buy, but i have atleast put and intake on every car ive owned. I think its a worthwhile mod.
i bet the gas saved from an intake is less than how much it costs to buy the intake haha
but I actually got 31 mpg with my intake and exhaust installed while on the fwy, so I know i didn't lost any mpg while cruising....
The reflash will gain you a lot more.

INJEN intake's power gain is on faking out MAF sensor by passing a bit of airflow tracking out targetted A/F ECU by adding more air than ECU is actually sensing.
Great product and great idea.. Nice quality and finish.
Only complaint is washer bottle is bit bitch to install and mpg does go down dramatically (my case before our reflash tho)
Jay- I was one of the early people who got the reflash done down at your place, and I'm thinking of swapping out my SRI with a CAI come spring time.

Based on your reflash Jay, do you recommend I go with the Injen or AEM CAI? Which one will I get better results with?

Agreeing with SFR on that. I don't have the Injen intake but introducing more air into the combustion chamber means more fuel to keep the A/F same at all times. Now with a reflash, that can be a different story

The performance of both is really the same... I have an Injen cai on my 2.0T and couldn't be happier. But some people do have problems with the washer fluid bottle.

Yes sir I sure remember you!

I would recommend AEM ... even though we are a dealer of INJEN.
I am giving you an honest opinion .. I would say performance gain should be similar since AEM basically went after the same design (or there is no other way anyways) but improve on the installation..especially on the washer bottle.

Yes those red bottles from INJENs are pain in the butt and still has problems.

You are exactly right...when the car is being driven hard. The diffrence is that it will take a lesser opening of the throttle to create the same power as the stock setup. So the same throttle positions will resut in worse milage, but better performance. However, using the throttle less and achieving the same hp means better milage.
Thanks for the posts about intakes. I have always run AEM in the past, but was about to get an injen.
Theoretically they improve mpg but my personal experience proves otherwise.

Probably because when you are cruising and getting any sort of decent mpg your engine isn't taking in much air anyways so the restriction is nonexistant at those loads and RPMs.

Thanks Jay... Appreciate the feedback. Would you be interested in doing the install too if I drive down for the day? I'd pay you of course for doing it. Might also be getting an exhaust to finish things off.
Sure we can get AEM for you and do the install.
It's just that I won't be @ the shop till early March.
I can set up an appointment with our guys for you.
Let me know. Also we've moved since you visited last time...
