Since my car is over 50k miles, I decided to purchase and add fuel system cleaner into my gas tank. I read online that fuel system is good to use for cars with high mileage. However I am hesitant to use because exotic cars like porsche and lambo warns you not to add anything unless you are a car mechanic and has deep knowledge since you could clog(?) the engine. Now GC is not exotic but it is to me :) and I want to take a good care of it.

This is the picture of the fuel system cleaner I'm about to add, what do you guys think?

If this is good to use, will 1 bottle suffice? It says it will be good upto 21 gallons which is more than a full tank in GC

It's a waste, as the above poster said. Get gas from chevron on your next fill up.

It's a waste of money but won't hurt the car.
I wouldn't call it a waste.

Polyether amine (PEA) is the main ingredient in fuel system cleaners, it has the best cleaning properties of any other additive. Different products have different amounts of PEA (And some do not use it, since PEA has been declared non-hazardous, it has disappeared from MSDS, making it near impossible to determine if the fuel cleaner has it and to what concentration).

Redline SI-1 had the highest when it was still on MSDS, 50% concentration of PEA. Gumout Regane came in a close second at 40%.

Just because you fill up at a pump that claims it has detergents in it, doesn't mean it has a specific dosage. Much like ceramic brake pads, which are only required to have 1% ceramic compound to market them as 'ceramic', same goes with these pumps selling fuel with "invigorate" or whatever stupid name they have.

Not a waste of money, Hyundai recommends Chevron Techron, they even relabel it and sell it as their own.

Seafoam is good but clogs the injectors. I know from first hand experience in my gen coupe lol. Had to pull the injectors and have them professionally serviced at 100k miles.

A lot of the carbon buildup in this engine occurs right before the injectors, above them in the runner. Not to say running some injector cleaner wont help, but your better off taking apart your intake, throttle body, and manifold every so often and giving it a good scrub clean. That will go further than a bottle of fuel treatment.

Using it once in a blue moon won't really do anything. It's meant to be used frequently as a maintenance thing... If you already have clogged injectors, which 90% of the people on this forums don't have enough miles for, running a bottle or two won't do anything appreciable. You have to run it regularly to keep deposits from building up.

Yep, I use this too once right before every oil change and it helped with my injectors. When I pulled them at 100k for their service interval at a local shop that can inspect and clean them, all but one were rated at very good flow and the one that wasn't was still rated good so taking that for what its worth.

+1 to Seafoam.

Every 10,000 miles a bottle goes in the tank.

I use lacquer thinner. 50/50 toluene and xylene. Never put it in my Coupe yet but did just add a gallon to a 12 gallon tank on my Accent.
