Sure, but that doesn't mean you can't swap tune files, does it? I was under the impression that it would let you swap different tunes on the fly.

I spoke to their US representative today. Very few details are available at this time. I think they offer the flash loading tool for the Sonata/Optima now, but that does not include end user tuning.

I have hopes for this product from both a business and personal stand point. However I have been down this road with multiple other vendors in the past only to be disappointed with the amount of ecu rom definition work completed. Sure it can flash the ecu, but are the proper tables defined to provide a good end result? We will have to wait and see. Call me cautiously optimistic at this time.

I hope something comes along soon. I just bought a new turbo and have my clutch ready to go in. Just need injectors and a tuner.

Lap3 facebook page has people saying a pre-christmas release, just finishing on commercialization. Datalogging for the bk2 3.8 is complete now.

I'm beginning to think the Korean mafia has something to do with it. Every time we get close to having a real solution, it somehow gets put on the back-burner indefinitely, or cancelled completely.

My conspiracy theorist side is coming out. LOL.

Here's the thing, they are the only company who has continually replied to and been in contact with their potential end user base. Every project gets delayed, no company is perfect but they've been a hell of a lot more communicative than some others that have vanished. I think this will turn out to finally be the handheld tuner that actually gets released. I'll stay positive about it. 0:)

That's all fine and well, but the thing that pissed me off about it was when one of the guys on the FB page who was at SEMA talked to him directly and asked when it was going to be released. His response was he laughed and said, "They can wait." It's been finished they just want to release all versions at the same time. So some of us continue to wait (which is apparently funny to him since we have no choice) while they work on other things. At least Sam has been honest in saying it's still quite a ways off for BTR's release because they don't want to rush to release a product with flaws.

I will gladly plaster Lap3 banners all over my car if it means I can tune my vehicle or have a local shop do it for me. They have until SFR's spring custom dyno day. That's my deadline to get what I needed done.

Can we expect heavy testing from you?

Honestly I'll just keep my custom tune. Enjoy the first versions guys, if anything I'll wait till all the reviews are in or until BTRs comes out (if it ever will) and see if its all that great. It's been what 7 years? The car model is dead anyways.

Whats weird to me is that for how much they are investing in time and resources to developing an end-user solution, they are pretty vacant when it comes to their social media presence and garnering enthusiasm for their product, especially when it comes to this site. I remember when Tom Dorris was making ECMlink V2 for the DSM's, he was insanely active on both the main dsm site and his own product forums, answering questions, taking feedback about new and possible things that could be adjusted, showing little screenshots of everything, etc.

Im still trying to be hopeful but at this point, im sure ill have a totally different car by the time something worthwhile comes to fruition. Then again, like with the DSMs, they never got a good end-user solution until years after they were out of production. Maybe we will have to wait until a bk2 2.0t is in the $8-10k range and some bored guy with the programming know-how and time on his hands comes along and isnt satisfied with the status-quo and decides to make his own.
