Who else makes midpipes for the V6? Megan is out for who knows how long...
Any other company?

Ark I think? yes/no? can't remember.
ARK makes a downpipe w/test pipes, do not believe they make a midpipe. Just do what I did before I got the ARK Exhaust. Go to a local muffler shop and have them make you a new Y pipe section.

Any worthwhile changes in sound/performance when you did that?

It got rid of the terrible rasp from removing the secondary cats!!

Reason I don't want to use a local shop for the midpipe is material, fitment and welds...at least where I currently am
make friends with a local that has a welder.

anyone near charlotte, im happy to help with projects if im available... theres a place 10min from my house to buy mandrel bends/stainless tubing.
arks tru dual exhaust comes with the mid pipe
I have a RMR Axelback attached to the stock mid pipe. I love the sound of it. I would, however, like to tone it down (a hair) and deepen it's note (a hair). The muffler is a Magnaflow. It has a great low end rumble at idle and it is hardly noticable (as in no drone) at highway speeds.

Under load, going through the gears or up a hill, it is significantly louder. It can be a little "boomy" in 2nd gear (think short block with a stop at the end. Too long for first but not enough for 3rd).

I ordered the Megan Mid Pipe and then canceled the order five weeks later after the back order became "back ordered"

So my question goes out to those who know and people here that want to know. Would a Megan mid pipe or alternative (mid pipe) help with any of the above?

That said, I am considering going with a custom exhaust shop and having a stainless steel mid pipe and a resonator put together (because the Megan has gone from a tangible to an intangible).

I for one, find this hard to believe. Why is/was Megan the only vendor offering this piece? These are, by the way, being manufactured in Tawain (hence the wait).

Is there anyone outside of Tawain making these things? WTF? There should be, anyone listening!!!!!?

So far, Megan is the only company that I can find that makes a stock-like midpipe.
BTW I think they're still backordered a few more weeks.
I went ahead and had a custom midpipe put together. I found a shop in Pasadena, MD. that can mandrel bend stainless steel. They used 409 SS for mine. I believe Megan is using the cheaper 304 grade (hence, the polish).

The pipe is connected to a Rhys Millen Racing Axle Back. The pipe is 2.5" in diameter hosting a 18"X5" Vibrant Resonator.

Here is a link to the said shop: Mandrel Bending Solutions Home Page

The Y pipe has a small curve to it (pointing towards the rear connection). The poor lighting and the said curve give the resonator an off set appearance. It is more or less an illusion.

How much $ if you don't mind me asking?

I got a quote and my local custom exhaust shop and they said that they couldn't touch the price of a pre-made midpipe.
The Y Pipe. The mid pipe, resonator and SS flanges cost me $422.00 installed. Worth every cent.

I have 3" CNT racing catback and it has same size mid pipe as stock. Maybe this will work for you?

Perhaps my definitions of mid pipes are different that your guys.

NA cars dont have downpipes. It goes from the header( exhaust mani) to the midpipes to the catback.

i have always considered anything that replaces the 2nd cat to be the mid/test/race pipe.

The way ark labels their products as midpipes I think is wrong. They arent down pipes, they are mid pipes, and from what I understand connect from the exhaust mani to the y pipe(catback) portion of the exhaust.

I have a couple sets of the ark pipes in stock for both engines. Good quality products.
^ While you are correct, I think due to the design of the V6 exhaust, it's fitting to call them downpipes.
