Need wiring help for rear deck brake light

I just got my brake light blinker module in and I just want to be sure about what wires to splice into to make this work right. I've seen the DIYs on here but they all consider the rear spoiler light. I've got the R-spec and only have the rear deck light.

Anyway, here's what I see looking up into the trunk:

Black and red wires in harness to the brake light, and green and black wire (I assume coming from the brake light.)

Here's the accompanying wiring diagram sent:

So I know the black should be joined to black, I'm wondering if it matters if I splice into the red wire in the harness or the green wire above the harness? It'd be much easier cutting the red wire instead.

I just bought the same module and plan to install it this weekend. With just the two wires going into the connector, it seems those would be good to tap. I am going to unplug and check the pins with a multimeter to verify before spicing the wires, but pretty sure that should be fine.

Thanks for the response. Sorry I didn't update this, I spliced the module into the harness wires (red and black) and it works perfectly. So if anyone with a rear deck light wants to do this, that's the way to do it.
