Waiting for the snow to vanish before I go ahead and get my genesis 2.0
R-Spec and now im debating weather I should still get the Genesis or a Subaru WRX. There both $25,000 and Ive seen in the FOR SALE Section that there are ALOT!!!! of people selling there Genesis Coupes with VERY LOW MILES like 3,000 to 8,000 miles.. Why is everyone selling the car so early?

Is the car a Lemon or just way to weak and everyone regrets buying it? Id like to know so I dont fall into the same hole.

i dont think its so much a problem with the car...more so a problem with the buyer, maybe they bought at a bad time in there life..or there circumstances changed....a read a few people i've seen got different jobs or moved.
To be honest, I would pick a WRX.
GC... It still has an "exclusive" factor, at least in my area. Theres only 6 in my area that i've counted and people are always 'ZOMG! Is that your white car out there? Wow what kind of car is that!?"
WRX is a nice car too but wayyy more common.
Also i would say something that attracts some people to the genesis(me) is that it is different and unique.....you can find a 350z/g35/mustang/subi every block you turn..but the genesis is very eye catching.
I'm getting married soon, and eventually we'll have kids. And my genesis will magically turn into a WRX.
And the cool "WOW what kind of car is THAT?!" really means "Is that the new Tib?!", which I proudly answer no. But it gets old after awhile. So I would suggest not buying this car just because it's new and unique. There are tons of WRXs out there for a good reason.

Yea tons of wrx's because that platform has been around for how many years now? GC is a BRAND SPANKING NEW platform. Its only been in exsistance for 3 years
Do you want a 4 door car or a 2 door car?

I love the GC and wouldn't replace it with a WRX. However I would replace my Sonata with a WRX :)

Also in defense of Subi, love that boxer engine sound with the right exhaust.... That's unique :)
ya i know they are rare in my area. i used to have a srt4 back in 2005. loved the car but couldnt afford it after i got laid off. id like to mod it a bit to keep up with my buddys sc cobalt thou.
Where do you live? Theres a reason the Colorado flag was almost changed to a subaru outback, subarus are amazing in snow. So if you deal with a lot of snow, I might consider going in on the subie. I think they are more reliable and have better build quality, but the GC is a ton of fun, one of the best handling cars out of the box, and as others have said, have the uniqueness factor.

If you do get the GC, but still deal with a lot of snow in the winter, a 1990 subaru legacy is about the same cost as a set of winter tires, and you care much less if others mess it up ;)
that question really gets at me for some reason..."is that the new tib"...that questions is down right stupid....the two cars have absolutely nothing in common besides the maker....two completely different cars, different looks, everything. almost want to smack someone across the head for being so dumb. Almost like asking if the Mitsubishi EVO is the new Eclipse... or if the ...well you get my point.
i live in michigan. snowing right now. lol i know you get great traction in the snow with the subie but the 4wd takes away power as well. i know after you build and build the genesis will be a very quick car. just need that money thou. and i know subie parts are expensive. insurance is about the same for both cars as well.
Wrx is the better choice for family or winter car !
But the Gencoupe have a pretty looking and all the positive point of a RWD
@elementrider. How can u say they the gc and the tib have nothing in common. There are alot ofthe same type designs. Even the tailpipes look alike.

To the op. I would def get a wrx if it is going to be your only car. It would suck if u got a gc and then got a huge snowstorm. Didn't get me wrong I love my gc but I have a 06 jeep grand cherokee to drive when it gets bad.
you serious?? i have a Tiburon and they look nothing alike...there are only about 4 different tail pipe designs in the world so hat aint much of a similarity in my opinion...you got single pipe, dual tip, quad tip, and the new oval tip Hyundai makes...thats almost abut it for factory cars.

everything BUT the exhaust is different..and even the exhaust is bigger on the gen. no comparison. tell me an Evo looks like an eclipse cuz it has a single exit exhaust...go ahead........ill wait.
if you have snow a lot of snow in your area then a WRX....RWD in the snow w/o snow tires is BAD

Yeah, but a 2000 honda civic looks nothing like a 2010 civic. Point is, hyundai and sporty car was only synonomous with tiburon. So people assume its a new iteration of tiburon, and then you can say no, this is part of a new line of luxury and performance models and it is brand new for 2009.

And if you don't even own a genesis why are you getting so pissed off at the question? And yes, your older style tiburon doesn't look anything like the new genesis, but the new tiburons do have some shared styling cues. And there are TONs of tips, not just 4... :squint:
I dont think the 2 look anything like the same thing. Its just a replacement for the tib. Now they got rid of the RSX and got the TSX... Those 2 cars look the same.
I think I may stick with the GC.

So many cars to choose from.

Mazdaspeed3 is alot cheaper insurance wise but the turbos in those cars are trash and the car is so mod sensitive they blow very easily. But they are listed as a sedan. Not a SPORTS CAR which is why the ins is alot cheaper.
Just a few mods on the GC and youll walk the MS3.

I like the WRX. Ins is still alot higher. About the same compared to the GC since they are both expensive to fix. You have the nice 4wd for all weather driving but again its gonna cost an arm n leg to mod the car.

My buddy has a Cobalt SS s/c... Id like to find a car that has good handling and has a nice power range to at least keep up with him. The GC kills most cars in handling.

hmmmm

i was in the same boat, but even modded wrxs are a dime a dozen...spend a couple bucks on the gencoupe and itll turn heads even at shows
TSX and RSX exsisted together, if what your saying is they made the TSX because they got rid of the RSX. Actually there was a rumor that once they killed the RSX they were supposed to replace it with a 2 door TL or TSX, which obviously never happened.
