Hey all, new here but I’ve had my 2013 3.8L A/T Genny for a lil over a year now and there’s a couple things that have driven me absolutely CRAZY with this car as much as I love and adore her. First off one thing I immediately noticed after buying the car is that the steering wheel shakes VIOLENTLY at about 70 mph and won’t stop until i hit speeds of over 90. I would love to post a video as well if anyone is interested to see. Never have or even came close to losing control of my vehicle because of this issue, but I’m sure most can understand why it makes me want to headbutt a table saw. I’ve also seen others on the forums talk about similar problems with about 95% of you never having been able to find out what it was (which is disappointing) or fix it but hopefully this thread will be the one!
Secondly, my car does have a odd “clunking” sound coming from what is most definitely the rear end of my vehicle and i’ve even had a couple passengers hear it as well so I know I’m not crazy Lol. I live on a hill and mostly where I hear it is when I’m backing out of my driveway onto the hill (facing upwards to the top of the hill) and taking off after switching to drive. I’ve looked into it being a driveshaft issue but sadly it seems most mechanics where I live are either absolute amateurs or are just afraid of my car being some sort of liability but out of 6 or so shops I called (one even being a driveshaft SPECIALIST) no one has seemed to be able to even do an inspection on it unless they are the dealer and I am simply not paying them 300+ dollars just to LOOK at my car. So I have an aftermarket driveshaft on the way and Ill see if that alleviates it but I just can’t say I am 100% confident in that being the issue, as the more I look into bad driveshaft the more I worry myself that I’m not falling into that category so to speak.
Nonetheless any help on these issues would be appreciated, I love my Gen and I want to do great things to this car but I can’t justify putting thousands into her if she ain’t even driving right! Thanks in advance guys and I’m sorry for this small novel I wrote as well
