NOS octane booster

Hi,

Recently I purchased a Black Hyundai Genesis 2011 (3.8L). I was wondering if the NOS octane booster are good for the engine or not. I was at the Kragen yesterday and I saw different brands and names with different prices. I also checked internet forums on the Octane boosters and recognized that most of them are just scams and if they say that they'll increase the octane level by 7 or so, that means basically 0.7 ,

Please let me know if the NOS octane booster s good for the engine...

Thanks

A bottle of NOS octane booster will not really do much for you in the performance department. Not worth the money.

Octane boosters are worthless for performance. If you look at the ingredients, the contents in octane boosters is basic rubbing alcohol, about 88 cents at your local drug store will accomplish the same thing.

About the best use for octane boosters is cleaning your fuel injection system and removing mositure from the fuel and tank, but again you can just buy a bottle of rubbing alcohol to accomplish the same thing. Don't waste your money.

However, there is one fuel additive that will make a little power and raise your octane level is "Torco". It is about $25 a can and it really works. I used this additive in conjunction with 93 octane with my 560hp boosted SRT-4. I did have an aftermarket ECU to allow the stuff to work. Our ECUs and the fuel/timing mapping will accomodate power level changes for premium fuel and below. Anything beyond 93 octane, the ECU will not adjust to reveal any subtantial gains in horsepower so even Torco would not improve anything powerwise, but what it will do is provide some protection against detonation especially when time comes that we are finally boosting our 3.8s or 2.0s.

So until you are boosting, don't waste your cash on either

Unless you use the NOS that this guy used, the main ingredient is sugar and water.

And oldie, but goodie.

rubbing alcohol? methylated spirits?

if so good for water dispersant!

i would not use in tank injector cleaners for a few reasons but mainly 1.

think how does it work?

if it works bad no point using it? yeah?

on the other hand if it does disolve sediment and crap from your fuel system then its going clean the crap from in your tank an place it in your filter (in the coupes case intank and not fkn cheap)

then break this down and whats stuck to your fuel lines and place it exactly where its supposed to clean!!!

no thanks not me not this black duck u won't catch me using it!!!

Buy premium gas. If you need better than that, buy race gas. Your research is 100% on the money. Its all pretty much a scam with a few exceptions, except that there are cheaper ways to get that effect anyway.

Mine runs rough on regular. They say that you should use 87 and regular is 85 here,so that might be something to do with it. Best we have is 91,so I use that. Im at a higher altitude, but the manal does not say 87 unless your in the mountains,it says 87 minimum, period.
"You should've used red bull, it would have given you wings" Lmao
