I have a 2011 2.0t, no mods. My turbos still functional but definitely doesn't have much life left. The cars at over 220000 km so I'm not looking to up boost but for the prices of rebuilds or used OEM it would be cheaper to go aftermarket. It's my first turbo car so I don't have much knowledge on it but ideally I'd like to find something direct bolt on without tune required. Again I'm new to turbos so that might not be an option but any help would be appreciated.

You could just replace the CHRA, it's easy and dirt cheap to do too.
Thanks I'm looking into it, having issues confirming it's a fit but I should be able to figure that out. Last thing tho if I get one that claims stuff like faster spoolup or better compression will it require a tune when it's installed again? Not looking for more HP but if it won't blow up it's not a issue to ad some just since I'm looking for cheap fix here I'd rather avoid tuning

What makes you think your turbo is going out? My car is at 170,000+ Miles (273,500 KM) and my turbo is showing no signs of being anything other than healthy and it's the original. You could go stuffed turbo, some of them you don't need a tune for them but it is a good idea. I've seen some stock turbos used on Facebook Market Place for pretty cheap, so you can try there if you haven't already.

I have a bad vibration at like 2300rpm, sounds fine till then and when it hits(sounds to me like the turbo getting spooled up) its like somebody cutting metal with a saw but obviously alot quieter. It goes away past 2300 and picks up a little again at like 2750 but any range above or below it's not there at all, happens more in low gears and if I gas it hard it skips past it quick enough that you can't really hear it. Only when slowly passing that point on the way up and also on downshifts. It sounds to me like either a bad wastegate rattle or more likely the turbine starting to contact the sides. I can't find anyone online with the same issue tho so I'm most likely gonna get a new core or look for a low km used one

What is CHRA
It's the center of the turbo without the housing on it. For Hyundai it is held together by a Vband clamp that holds it in to turbo housing. In the first picture it's the silver screw/bracket that sits in the middle of the turbo. It holds the compressor to the turbine.

That seems too easy to replace a turbo 😅 W Hyundai

I replaced mine on a BK2 at 120K miles. It's more difficult than a BK1. I needed a 17mm wrenches to remove the oil line. The clamp was 10 mm or a screwdriver I think. And for clamps I used a good plier to safely pull out.

No matter what if you get a bigger than a stock oem turbo you will need a tune and injectors. Could you put a stock location stock flange turbo bugger turbo on the car and not tune sure but it doesn't mean you should do it. Either get a new to you or rebuilt stock oem turbo or get a big stock turbo from Tim Herber aka gen coupe store he offers a turn key kit that is affordable and easy to install. You will need the turbo the 525cc fic injectors and his tuned ecu. I have it and the kit is phenomenal.
