Hey yall,

This thread will go alongside the member count/info thread that chreph started. Since in the last month or so we have literally triple to quadrupled our members from Texas with no signs of slowing, I though trying to do a Texas meet somewhere would be something that people would naturally have begun to think about.

Well, that's what I am starting here with this thread. I figure it would have to be a somewhat centralized location to make travel fair and as little as possible for everyone. Anyone have suggestions for a location, time, fun stuff to do.

I was thinking to plan a weekend deal. Maybe someone has a local track that we could see if we could meet for a weekend of challenges and car talk.

Well whe had may meets like this when I had my GTO but the best place to meet we all felt was either Fredricksburg or Austin both have good scenery curvry roads and good FOOD. and alot to do around the towns, now as far as tracks go College station might be another option The speedway (Texas) does group rates if we get enogh people together I could check in to that as well.

Wow, I am surprised others haven't spoke up about ideas and options. Does no one have anything to contribute?

I believe there are just too many subforums, so we all tend to get lost. I'm in Central Texas, by the way.

Dallas would be another good spot to meet if people are concentrated heavily in East/Central Texas. I live in Tyler, but I don't mind driving to Austin if that is more convenient for everyone else. Hopefully, I'll have my new gold rims, cf hood, cf trunk, and all of my turbo upgrades by then!

I have been doing some searching around. I like DezinerGen's idea. I think it would be cool to do a weekend Sat/Sun thing where we go somewhere where we can track the cars a bit one day and then B.S. the other day doing something else. The only problem with something like that is the fact that track days can be costly. I have only found a few tracks that once a month offer a track day to the public for a smaller fee per car as long as you have the proper safety equipment.

If we get a larger group I can work out discount for a hotel? Also doing the run on TAX $ roads is more fun because you really feel your getting your money back some how. When I went to a road course track it was 150 for 2 hours.

It would be great if we can plan this for....say.... November? This should give everyone some time to save up some extra $$$ so we can make the meet an enjoyable one. :) Heck, by then, a lot of us should be pretty well into our modding endeavors!

Well whatever the popular vote goes for is what will work then. I will most likely not be able to make any get together in 2010 since I will be moving back to Huntsville, Alabama. THANK GOODNESS. Tyler, TX. sucks.

Anybody going to the Texas Motor Speedway thing next weekend? I had signed up for Sunday morning, but now apparently the event is "closed" according to the website :dunno: ... maybe that could be like a small meet

UPDATE: The event is not closed, it is full, but I am confirmed as registered for Sunday morning

No worries, they allow walk ups, just don't bring a hord of people. You just need to be 18 or older and bring a valid drivers license.

If you want more information, you can find it at the following link:

Just be sure to mention you are a member on gencoupe.com

As it turns out, I just spoke with the salesman that I am working with for my car on order and he stated that he is signed up to go as well.
