This is one of the more off the wall suggestions but it would help organize the forum a bit. We need a section that is suitable for all the owners that have wrecked their vehicles or have had damage, to keep the General Discussion area a little cleaner... thoughts? :dunno::hello:

HERE'S MINE, BY FAR ONE OF THE LONGER CURSE THREADS SO IMA JUST INCLUDE PICS AND VIDEO:

Well I guess I get to join the club too. Last Tuesday I went to finally hand wash my car. I had cleaned the front end of bugs, did the wheels and tires and rinsed the car down. It looks like the cool water hitting the windshield triggered a temp change and a stone hit at the very top in the tint turned into a crack. Ends up being almost two feet long. Windshield is replaced on Wednesday I'm out $150.00

Yesterday driving to work on Hwy 407 I come over a hill and see much to my surprise an orange traffic cone sitting upright in my lane. I try to avoid it but bang into the nose by the right fog light. Cone goes flying, I pull over to inspect. The bumper is cracked, I've lost a chunk out of my inner fender liner and the fog light surround has been pushed down, not sure if the clips are broken. I'm also dripping windshiels washer fluid so the bottle may be cracked. Went to a body shop today and I'm told it'll be well over my $500 deductible.

I'll be dropping the car off next Monday and they'll have it for about three days. At least now I'll have a bumper without the license plate bracket holes drilled. Woot! I really hope nothing else happens now!

#294 ·
You might ask if you can get the black part of the front painted to match the rest of the car if you want to do that, it'll cost you a little for the extra work though. If I have a problem like that I get them to do the extra paint ;)

#295 ·
Wow june must be a unlucky month for driving, sorry to hear about all these accidents. My car got dropped off at a body shop yesterday, but they said they would know the extent of the damage until wednesday.

#296 ·
I've found that Hyundai put some effort and engineering into their cars and they can take a lot more than some domestics might. They should put the car on a hoist and take any grass etc out of it while they inspect everything. They should check the frame, suspension, exhaust system, drive shaft and rearend, etc.... Did you drive your car after the accident and it seem to drive fine?

#297 ·
It wasn't driveable, the towtruck driver said it look like the axle or control arm broke.

#298 ·
Sounds like it will need some TLC from a good mechanic. Hope it's better off than it might look. I'm sure the accident was very scary. When I had mine it was, "why is my driver window turning green?" it was strange until I came to a stop nose to a fence post which might have prevented my car going through a barbwire fence scratching the hell out of everything if I climbed into a farmers field. I was able to drive that car out of the ditch pretty much how I went in. The ditch was fairly shallow where I went in, pretty much stopped me from going back up on the highway too as it went sleeper as it progressed into a curve. I have pictures on my Photobucket I have some captions on the pics.

#299 ·
Adding to the curse section, my cars not even a month old, still has dealer plates. got rear ended about 2 hours ago. pics later, im so pissed I cant even concentrate.

#301 ·
Yeah accidents suck, especially when they involve gens. Hopefully I'll get a call from the body shop today about the extent of the damage.

#302 ·
Got a call from the insurance adjuster today, and he said it was $7000 worth of damage, and I'd get my car back july, 8.

#303 ·
Ouch! It won't feel the same when you get it back. Take it easy since the car will be like new again. Would most of the suspension needing work or replaced?

#304 ·
yeah, the front was completely F'ed,, and the rear pax side need work plus a new front bumper.

#305 ·
#306 ·
Update on my car. Was able to get some pictures or my car after it went in the ditch.

I saw the part list too, man was it long. The only good thing is that the shop is using all new OEM parts and not aftermarket or remanufactured parts. Hopefully I'll have my car back friday.

#307 ·

BEFORE

AFTER SHE DECIDED TO HIT ME

^Sorry this picture is hard to see, but the trunk is literally pushed in, and you can start to see how it folded the entire undercarriage.

The Adjuster said $8,300 visible damages. I get a call today from the shop and they, they were looking for the wheel lock and didn't know where I put it in the car. They also just wanted to mention that the car was over $10,000 in damage with the wheels still on.

The trunk was pushed in so much that it affected the floor in the back seat.

Good thing Arizona has a depreciation of vehicle law!

#310 ·
Well, I was going 30 MPH at the time, and there was an ambulance in the center turn lane rushing through traffic, mind you this is a 40 MPH zone. In one of the pictures, you can see how far over I already was. She was weaving through lanes and everyone was stopping and pulling over for traffic. We think she was texting because she is 26 (you can see her in a picture) and she said "I don't have a cell phone to call 911" the second she got out of the car. There was a cop who saw it all and she was DEFINITELY speeding. No clue how fast, but she got a speeding ticket, reckless driving, and the accident.

#311 ·
Her Insurance company might be replacing your car, it's going to be very hard to replace the damage to the trunk, that could have done frame damage and your exhaust looks pushed foward. Her passenger air bag went off, did your's?

#312 ·
Both of our insurance is Allstate, she is paying for the rental car, and since it will be more than 4 weeks of repair she might be looking for a dropped policy. Her airbags went off, either it was the bags pressure, or the accident itself but her windshield was a tap away from falling into her car. As for the trunk damage, it was seriously bad. The body shop was talking about remolding and possibly taking out the entire back end. I am no autobody repairman but I think there is far more than $10,000 in damage. And the exhaust was pushed forward, there is a LOT of work to be done.

The only question is if the wheel got a lot of damage, and tomorrow I will hear more about the frame and axel damage.

PS She got airbag burn :sly:

#313 ·
The Adjuster might be called in if the frame is damaged and it reached the engine bay as well. Did they put your car on a tilt deck tow truck to take it to the body shop?

#314 ·
Nah, mine went onto the bed, which was only big enough for one car. Her car went onto the tilt. Also, Allstate told me that the Adjuster will get faxed the new information from the repair shop and then they will make the decision.

#315 ·
That's totaled unless your insurance adjuster can find a car that has value higher than the repair totaling limit. My mustang was totaled with $18,000 in damage and it was mainly front suspension, exhaust, driveshaft, and some body. No frame and yours for sure has frame damage. Or it could be like my mom's car where they replaced everything from the firewall forward which was about $16,000 worth of repairs and her car was only worth about $9,000 but the adjuster found cars that were worth over $20,000 but they were a lot newer

#316 ·
I've got gap insurance also, so that will cover it if the damages do 51% of the cost. But I don't know if it is the cost that I payed for it, or if it is the cost of the car before I was hit. The cost of it before it was hit is roughly $25,000 not including the extra $400 in aftermarket stuff.

#319 · (Edited)
Dang your car got messed up:eek: I thought mine was bad, but at least insurance is gonna take car of eveerything and it's not your fault.

Edit:
I was just thinking about this over a beer. Since this car is so new, do you think Beyond Redline and Loren could have the most damaged coupes so far?

#320 ·
Damn After seeing loren's genny, I feel like an ass after bitching about mine so much, mine has far less damage, although it sucks that my aftermarket exhaust got destroyed. But loren seems very calm, I would be so pissed if mine had that much damage. Hope everything gets taken care of.

#321 ·
Yeah man, I was seriously pissed. I just haven't really been thinking about it, since I am trying to move a lot of stuff in Vermont right now that is my main priority. The only shitty part is that it is gonna take another 3-4 weeks to this date, and this happened almost a week ago. I am going to get some depreciation of value here.

Also, I got a call back from Larry Miller (the auto body repair shop) and he was looking for where my wheel lock was. With the tire on, he said I am looking at $10,000 in damages a little bit more. He was taking the tire off that day, and still hasn't called me back. But you can see she scuffed the tire with her PAINT so I think that it's a lot more damage to the tire too.

He also said there is a floor panel (sorry I am not familiar with the undercarriage) and that it goes from the trunk to the back seat, that is folded like an accordion.

Add in another $1,500 or so from my pocket. I was a retard and kicked my fender, NOT smart, I learned fast. There was also some minor scratches on the bumper that the stupid dealership put in. They will be clear coating my whole bumper because they can't spot them out.
