I have had the P2261 CEL for about 10 months almost and my car has shown many symptoms and I have been stuck with no solid solution. The error code has led to my car having rough idle with my rpm’s jumping down and up and not being able to settle at random moments usually when I am stopped or driving at low rpm’s. The way of stopping the rough idling was to step on the gas a few times and it would settle back to usual. This CEL has led to lower boost at times.
The car has had this problem before I even put an intake but has had this problem for a while because of the BOV. I am not sure if it’s because I have the BOV set up a certain way that the solenoid is malfunctioning at moments. I have replaced the Bypass Valve Solenoid and still the issue is occurring.
If there is anyone that can come up with a possible solution it would be a great help as I have been spending money left and right trying to figure out what can I possibly do to fix this issue.
These are images of my current BOV set up which runs with the blue hose for my Genesis Coupe 2012 2.0t hopefully this can help.

I'm trying to solve this same issue on my 2010. I replaced both solenoids with stock replacements but am about to spend more money again on the Seco Solenoids to see if the faster response time helps. In my situation we had it tuned with just adding a bigger FMIC and an HKS BOV. After sitting for 8 months this started occurring. So in my case something went bad. It's just "what went bad" and hence throwing money at the car.

I was also getting a P0234 Overboost as well but ever since I swapped out the wastegate actuator for the Garrett/ATP standalone actuator it stays contant with no spiking and no overboost errors anymore.

I would bypass the BOV solenoid but I still see guys still having the P2261. What the heck is it?

If the BOV is working at all then the solenoid is good. Is it an OE BOV? Have you taken the BOV off to look at it?
I believe rerouting the BOV hose

Ive replaced the solenoids as well and I have the issue going still. Today I am go to try a method I have seen among the forum which people basically running the BOV line to their Throttle Body Line and doing a T vacuum. I’ve seen that people get better responses doing this rather than the putting the BOV line on the solenoid it self but instead cap that off and just run the line as I said.
Im going to attempt that today in hopes that I can fix this problem.

The BOV works just fine in fact i had this problem with the other aftermarket BOV i bought the car with and even replacing with my recently bought one it’s still going on so I’m assuming it has something to do with the hose set up.

Would using the Seco Solenoid or the MAC Solenoid help solve this? If so which one is the best?

I'm getting desperate with mine because I can't sell the car since it won't pass emissions.

I have an HKS BOV and it's been on there for about 6 yrs. or maybe 30k miles. Can the HKS wear out n not respond as well as before since this error just started after my car sat for 8 months. Just trying to help Yandro n maybe help both of us with true solutions.

Not yet and that's what I'm gonna try to do before wasting more money on solenoids. I will let you know by later today hopefully if I can get it done I will update you.
Have you tried using a larger than stock hose tee-ed off the back of the throttle body directly to the BOV and capping the solenoid BOV output?
It worked perfectly the car runs way better. Feels way more responsive and the BOV sounds way smoother. Got rid of the CEL and all!

It works perfectly i just did the tee vacuum method and it worked perfectly. Don’t waste your money on solenoid all the parts i used in total was like $20. 1ft of 3/8 hose, 5ft of 3/16, the Tee vacuum, and a some clamps and you should be good.

Make sure to cap off the solenoid where the BOV line originally goes to!

So I decided to run off the manifold directly to the HKS. I ran a T off the short line with the green/white check valve to the HKS. I didn't cap off the output of the solenoid because I saw some posts that did and they still had the error. I still get the P2261.

If I cap the top output of the BOV solenoid will that stop me from getting the P2261?

Or should I run it to a tee with the bottom BOV solenoid that feeds into the input of the WG solenoid?

Thanks guys. I just don't know what to do at this point. In fact I am even getting in a Fake HKS today just to see if that is the culprit, even though I completely to the real HKS completely apart n cleaned n lubed.

So if I bypassed the solenoid and ran my HKS off manifold pressure and I still get the P2261, doesn't that mean that the code has nothing to do with the BOV? In other words the stupid solenoid isn't having an issue with the BOV timing, etc.

So back to my thought on a possible issue being the Purge Cannister Valve. Could there be a vacuum leak in that component that would fake out the MAP into thinking there is an open in the BOV circuit? I know its another electronic check valve so its either open or closed but could it get dirty and stick open a little or something? Just seems like when people get this P2261 they just can't get rid of it

I gave the car about a week with the the new hose set up and the issue returns as well. Im not sure what possible solutions to do I am planning to do a canned GO tune next month and hopefull I can speak with someone that knows about the issue and a possible solution. Im not sure what else to try by this point but please keep me updated if a possible solution comes up.
