I'm sold!

You had to bring pancakes into the equation. And there's nothing like pancakes on a Sunday morning to start the day.

Setup a new thread Girl! This one has run its course.
Done... here it is...

Looks like Choccy & I have started something... if anyone else is interested in partaking in pancakes and THE best homemade maple sausages on the planet then you must join.

Meet in Kanata seems the easiest @ Loblaws lot for 8:30 am?? This coming Sunday November 7th. Its about an hour drive.

Wheelers Maple Syrup Camp & Pancake House- A Sugar Bush in Lanark County, Eastern Ontario, Canada

Opens @ 9 am and usually a line-up! So the earlier we can get there the better!

1001 Highland Line, Lanark Highlands (McDonalds Corners), Ontario, CANADA
From Ottawa: (65 minutes) Travel west on Highway #7 towards Perth. Signs start about 10 minutes west of Carleton Place. Turn right onto County Road #15 at the Stone Church. Turn right onto County Road #12 (this is a little tricky as the Upper Perth Road and CR#12 are very close...CR#12 is the second of the two) towards Lanark Village. Stay on County Road #12 and continue through Lanark Village. Turn left onto Highland Line (this is a gravel road) right before you enter the hamlet of McDonald's Corners.

(please follow signs... not your GPS)

Let us know if you are in!! :point:

Very maybe for me. Weather's not looking good (rain/snow) and I'm not going to have a chance to swap the winters on this week. If the weather changes though, and the sun comes out for the weekend, I think I'm in!

Sign me up.

I won't say anything about the STUFF that could make the drive a bit more challenging. If the PHENOMENON is similar to what we experienced last time, it could keep the attendance down.

My one-day later predictions about THINGY be damned.

Fingers crossed for Sunday.

I actually may be able to go to this one :)

Although it depends on the weather. If it sn*ws again, I'll be putting the car away for the year. My tires are virtually bald, and it's not worth the risk of smoking a curb.

Just checked the website and map for directions to Wheeler's. This one is straightforward compared to Eganville via the highlands.

You could approach from Almonte(not the most efficient route but a familiar one). Wolf Grove Road(#16) is a maintained surface and you could drive that all the way to #511 which is also in good condition.

I have no idea about the quality of roads along the last leg of the trip. Need to do a recon. Might just try it today after work...it really is that nice outside!

I had to LOL. Based on the detail of directions in your previous cruise thread, I can only imagine you hunkerd out with binoculars, face paint, and branches in your hat mapping out the drive.

That said, the GC sure loves the cold air today.

Cold air and forced induction are the recipe for WIN everytime!

Sounds good - especially if you wish to by-pass 17 and have a more direct route (and probably less traffic) ---> ON-417 W to Wheelers Pancake House and Sugar Camp - Google Maps

As for state of roads - all about the same - smooth for most part; but expect bumps, cracks, pot holes - and thats just the pavement... some good curves... the last bit is on gravel with a sand driveway up into Camp.

Regarding the "thing" we are not allowed to speak of - my powers show me that its ... so I am with Choccy - fingers ARE crossed!! Plus a bit of  cant hurt! Be positive boys!

Well, let's see how much trouble I can get myself into in a couple of hours.

#417 -> #49 -> #16 -> #511 -> #8

How hard could it be?

It must be old age getting the better of me. I only made it halfway(#511) due to driving around in near total darkness!

I wasted an hour in traffic just getting to Kanata. Decided to take the alternate route along Carling Ave. until March Rd. Then followed March Rd. all the way to Almonte. Then Wolf Grove Rd(#16).

Holy smokes!

Wolf Grove Rd. up to Tatlock(#9) is nothing to write home about. But after that...there were moments where it was baby's bottom smooth. And GennyGirl wasn't kidding. Some of the crests and switchbacks were epic. Just couldn't see farther than the headlights would allow.

So, I kept driving, and driving, and driving, finally reaching the #511. Saw the sign for Wheelers. 28 km to the left.

I turned left.

And drove into a black hole.

I drove maybe 100 ft. and convinced myself to save it for a daytime drive. All it would take is one deer in the path to ruin my night.

Turned 180 and made my way back.

At about 7:15 pm, I passed a red Gen Coupe on March Rd. at the 417 overpass. That driver was heading towards Almonte. Was it Gamz? Man on Fire? The Stig? I'll never know.

Looking forward to the Sunday Hyundai fun day!

Great effort man! Will be much better come Sunday morn ;)
Do hope more GC's make it out to this one... reasonably short commute for a scrumptious feast. Cant wait... if anything will at least be me and you Choccy... I will go regardless. Lawrence cant make this one! His loss :)

They have had a black one, and now a white one, they do need a red... Stig!! lol

...from my brother - another avid car/driver enthusiast (runs in family) & member of VW Club of Ottawa - he has one of only two VW W8 in City! He has driven to Wheelers many times... this is his suggestion...

"Proposed route is good - only change would be not to take Wolf Grove
all the way to Hopetown. In Middleville, turn left and take Heron
Mills Road to 511 instead. It's a short stretch, but has a couple of
good curves, and a couple of roller coaster drops.

Almonte, ON, Canada to Wheelers Pancake House and Sugar Camp - Google Maps

And yeah, the gravel stretch into Wheelers can become really nasty/muddy
if there is morning frost/rain/snow on the road... some folks may not
appreciate that!!!"

So we are up to:
GennyGirl
Choccy
Boozysmurf (maybe)
Gamz (hopefully)

Wendy & Dennis (in Miata)
Scott (my bro)

...need more!

LOL! That's awesome. I saw the sign for Middleville. But at the speed I was driving, didn't notice any turns to the left or right before the #511 junction. Just gravel shoulder and dark nothingness.
