2013 Genesis Coupe Speculation Thread
1/9/12- Auto show season is here! With the debut of the NA version of the vehicle, we have a new thread that will hopefully be less cluttered than this one. It can be found here: http://www.gencoupe.com/general-dis...ial-2013-genesis-coupe-thread.html#post947240
12/5/11 mod edit: I took all of the posts after the first official pictures and created a new thread so it's a bit easier to wade through. I'll be going through and cleaning the new thread up as well and moving some stuff around. Since the car has been officially revealed, I'm leaving this post closed. Please continue discussion of the new 2013 Genesis Coupe here:

mod edit: pictures added!
Also, if you're reading this thread for the first time or visiting from another corner of the internet, the information below is from 8-31-10, and therefore was speculation a year ago.
This is the post where it all started. We still don't have confirmation of which engines or output the car will have.

Hey, Mustang, watch out! Hyundai is preparing a new 5.0 liter V8 engine that will deliver 429 HP. Of course, Hyundai did not say that with the new engine they would want to take on the Mustang, but it wouldn’t be as ridiculous as the race between Mini and Porsche! The output for the new coupe is even bigger than the one from the Mustang GT model that develops a total of 412 HP. The announcement was made by Hyundai in South Korea during a test drive for the new Sonata hybrid and 2.0T.
The new 5.0 liter Tau engine is a bored-out, direct-injection version of the 4.6-liter V-8 currently found in the Genesis sedan. Bore increases to 96 mm, an increase of 4, while the stroke stays the same at 87 mm. The result is an estimated output of 429 hp at 6500 rpm and 376 lb-ft at 5000 rpm with an 11.5:1 compression ratio. The new engine will be mated to an eight-speed automatic designed and manufactured by Hyundai.
The new engine is rumored to be available for the Genesis Coupe sometime in mid-2011.
