Hey guys!:smile:
I just recently sold my BMW z4 and now I have a 2011 Genesis Coupe 2.0T. I am new to this forum and the genesis world so I was wondering what the most popular DIY mods to the genesis are; whether it be exterior or interior work or simple performance enhancements. I am super excited to get started on the car and modding it out. Thanks!

Ok, considerably high effort, kinda expensive, ... But, firm up the driveline and rear end ASAP. Engine mounts, engine leash, transmission mounts(probably best to do a short shifter, too), filled or solid rear subframe bushings, filled or solid differential bushings, and install a fourth differential bushing. These mods will absolutely transform your ride. And it will become both better at road holding AND easier to fool around with sliding the tail about. This is the solid foundation from which to install coilovers, improve power, upgrade brakes, etc. Essentially, you build the car Hyundai should have made, then you improve to your tastes from there.

Also, Red is correct about the Tros booster. Fantastic and silly fun.

Welcome to the forum. One of the best bang for your buck is a tune for your car. You can get a tune from Prw if your car is a manual it's $200 which is very cheap compared to other competitors that charge $500 and up according to the options you would like.

Just my opinion, but I like the Sprint Booster because you don't have to leave the control head connected. Set it where you want it then unplug it and stick in the glove box or somewhere its not cluttering up the car.

what does that Potent Booster throttle controller. do ?
If its only remapping the throttle pedal voltage output curve then what is the point of this ?

I mean you only change how sensitive the throttle is - not how the engine responds to it .. right ?

maybe im missing something but simple throttle voltage alterations shouldn't do anything than maybe 'perceived' responsiveness (70% throttle input to achieve same result as i.e. 80% throttle input), but powaa stays the same...

It does not add HP but it can change the rate of throttle response very dramatically. And is easily adjustable on the fly. Easy to install. Easy to hide if you want.

After a while you learn to use the throttle much more carefully. My gas mileage actually went up a small amount.

Does it matter for the model? Transmission? That would be helpful. Like i found the sweet spot on the gas pedal where it feels I'm getting great pull rather than mashing the gas. But if I can improve response whoooo that'd be great

Ok but in order to increase the response, the device would have to:

- Force higher current to the actually throttle body> Butterfly valve motto for quicker butterfly opening, right ?

Is this what this thing does ? VS just saying the *throttle pedal* position is different than it actually is ?
If this is the case - then you are right its a good purchase. Throttle pedal position vs throttle body / valve are different things

Then again the throttle body valve position is controlled by ECU - it probably sets it the way it does for a reason...

Yeah that's what I understood, forcing a bigger current. But honestly I thought for a while there was a pulley for the throttle body lol

Gentlemen, consider it like a reduction in time-to-spool or turbo lag. Those are probably the closest analogs.

Think of it this way, if you took 0.5 seconds in normal mode to depress the throttle pedal from 0% to 20% of its arc you would get reaction of 20%TP/0.5sec from the ECU. With this thing in between, that same 0.5 sec and 20% arc opens the throttle to say, 25% so now you get reaction (1.25 x 20%TP)/0.5sec. Effectively, the butterfly has been forced to open further in the same amount of time. As we all know, "further in the same time" and "the same distance in less time" are both expressions indicating an increased speed. The throttle opens further/reacts faster per unit of travel of the gas pedal.

The trade off here, the downside; the more aggressive you have this thing set, the less throttle position from the pedal perspective you have to use. The top of the throttle travel does nothing and you get closer and closer to ON-OFF behavior. Similar to a grabby clutch with a very high engagement position and super narrow slip window.

Anyway, you can think of the stock throttle mapping the same way you do bushings, springs, dampers, etc. If you tighten it up, you'll get faster reaction times from the vehicle. Now, in my experience this thing, while fun, does make the car twitchy, but with finesse and restraint, it will make your car faster just as a 1-piece driveshaft would, or just as anti-squat bars in a solid axle car would. You don't have to increase peak power output to put more power to the ground faster.

If above is true then this is exactly why i don't see this as a worthy upgrade as it basically cheats and simply changes the pedal sensitivity to give you perception of better response.

In my view this should work like this:
- I want 70% Gas pedal and 70% throttle body opening
- Device gives more current to get the TB valve to that 70% *faster* but does not cheat by going further (i.e 100% TB opend)

If its working like you described (opens throttle more for same throttle pedal travel) then its no different than changing i.e. potenciometer you only make care less controllable as you rob yourself from throttle pedal 'resolution'

*note this is assuming the ECU is opening throttle with 1:1 gas pedal relation



*fun fact I have the same thing factory OEM in opel corsa 1.4 liter, they made the beginning of throttle pedal curve very sensitive to give it a *perception* of a quick car, but once past this 'sensitivity' bump - is just flat on its face...

VERY annoying behavior
