Sway Bar Differences

Are the sway bars that come standard on the track model and the aftermarket options from Eibach, Progressive and Tanabe different? Would there be enough of an advantage for a base model coupe driver to go with Eibach front and rear versus a used set from a track model? Obviously the track model bars are going to be a cheaper alternative and I'm trying to decide if it's worth the extra $$ to go with an Eibach set or try and find a track model. :dunno:

Well the differences with investing an aftermarket anti-roll kit can be substantial over stock. However, I don't have any immediate evidence of any major differences between the track sways and aftermarket sways. It's there, but not in an overwhelming sense. At least from my own experience.

With that said, some of the tubing size between the manufacturers listed vary. Eibach for instance is not as thick as OEM, but they make up for the difference with using a more dense material to better handle the stresses of racing. It's pretty much up to you if you're torn between the brands. Personally, I prefer Eibach and Progress.

Lastly, having a BASE Genesis and upgrading to an aftermarket anti-roll kit WILL seem like a night and day experience. You can't go wrong with them, so if you have the coin, definitely invest in a set. :) Fortunately for you, I am having a sale! hehe

PM NXXT, he has pictures comparing the track vs. Eibach side by side, and he can give you feedback upon the two. Having held and handled both side by side off the car.
I haz pics :D I will post them after dinner. The Eibach sway bars feel lighter than the OEM plus the position of the second bolt is closer to itself than OEM.
.. inherently I learned that makes for a stiffer feel

EDIT: pics

The front is definitely thicker than stock and has a slightly different shape

Thanks Tom - The sale is what sparked the thought ;)

Thanks for the pics Nxxt. I'll be interested if you notice a difference in handling with the eibach setup.

I won't know if I'll notice a difference lol ... I got my coilovers done at the same time... thanks to Bobaguy for the install. It's a drastic change in setup ...going stock track to full coilover drop and sway bars on wider wheels
so shred tires on the spares and let us know. LOL! =)
lol your spare is on the front... so it would be Greg's and my spare? :squint: lol

tell that to Bobaguy  ...I'm perfectly happy with my Stances and from what I know he is disappointed with his BCs
Whats the difference between the standard (base/premium) sways, vs track / r-spec sways?
Any difference at all in diameter?
I don't think the base/premium come with any sway bars at all. Track does and I would assume the r-spec does as well. There looks to be slight differences between the eibach and stock setup
My 2.0T premium has front / rear sways.
If I'm not mistaken, they're required by the NHTSA
My 3.8 base does not have any
