Well since i'm about to get to the point of full money blowing i figured I would share my build and experiences. I ran a BTR 16G setup last year and loved it, BTR makes amazing tunes!! I made 301whp and 267wtq and ran 13.6 @ 106mph with lots of spin on crap tires. The only thing BTR doesn't offer is a sure fire path to 400whp, although i'm sure those smarties will have something soon for the 10-12 crowd soon.

So the goal this year was 400whp, without having to sweat from running on a stock block. Naturally the best way to get there right now IMO is Beyond Redline's stage 4 kit. Let me first say that dealing with BR has been an absolute pleasure! Tim and Steve understand their customers and make sure they are satisfied, while making sure you understand what you are getting and what the realistic goals are. Instead of upselling stuff and promising power that isn't possible.

SO now to my car's upgrades. First things first, i'm not a rich person by any means. I work hard to blow the money on my car (60 hrs a week 7 days), and prefer to do things cheaply so I don't mortgage my immediate future. That said, I still believe in doing things right the first time. So I pulled my motor this winter and that's where the fun began.

2010 Grey Gen Coupe Track 2.0T w/26,000 miles (summers only)

Engine Build:
-K1 rods
-OEM rod bearings re-used (very good shape, #4 had a few marks on it, cleaned up, not enough oil..)
-OEM pistons and rings re-used
-New OEM Head Bolts, washers
-New OEM headgasket
-EVO X TSB timing chain upgrade
-Gasket matched head and intake manifold
-OEM Hyundai theta water cooled oil cooler (doughnut cooler on filter block)
-re-done engine grounds (stock bolts rust fast)
-relocated right side fuse block under battery tray (thanks msugerman)
-Brad Penn semi-synthetic oil

My engine build was very cheap, all of this was ~$700. No labor involved, work was done by myself and my co-worker who happens to be a Hyundai Gold technician.

Engine bolt-ons:
-Beyond Redline stage 4 complete kit, with EVERYTHING you need to run hassle free.
-Turbonetics T04E, 50 trim, ball bearing with an .82 A/R
-Bosch 750cc injectors
-Deuschworks DW300 Fuel Pump
-2013 Gen coupe fuel sending unit (~70 psi fuel pressure upgrade, best you can do staying returnless)
-BR fuel feed line
-Injen CAI
-Depo catless 02
-DC Sports downpipe
-Tomei Expreme cat back (LOUD)
-TurboXS IC piping and crash bar
-Treadstone tr10 intercooler
-ISIS Radiator w/Mishimoto hoses
-Tial Q BOV on cold side
-DEI heat sheathing for hoses and wiring, reflective gold sheet for hood, and platinum exhaust wrap
-ebay catch cans.. snoopy cans in the future!

Drivetrain:
-Competition Clutch Stage 2 (because 3.5 was no where to be found last year)
-TiC shifter bushings
-Blox weighted shift knob in platinum
-Redline MT90
**future mods, CP-E diff mounts and megan racing trans mount

Suspension:
-STOCK, lol, just Cusco front and rear sways for now, which are awesome BTW
**Eibach sportlines coming soon
-Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position tires
-20mm hub-centric spacers which may or may not be installed as I don't like ruining wheel bearings.

Brakes:
-Stock and pads are toasted already all the way around
** Hawk HPS pads coming soon

Exterior:
-I prefer sleeper status as I don't like lots of attention on the road. debadged, 2013 Taillights, Sarona grill, black OEM crooked Hs and CF rear bumper block off panel from Tomei

As of now my car is under construction as I wait for my stage 4 kit to arrive. I'm currently running on the stock ecu, turbo and injectors just to break the engine back in, next week it will all come apart again!

As I move forward i'll add pics, 1/4 mile times, dyno sheets and anything else relevant, all legit info, good or bad.

Here's a sneak peek pic, this is the prototype I guess you could say. Stock turbo and temporary covering on new coolant lines for oil cooler.

Nice!
Please let us know how the stage 2 cope with the 400+ whp. I'm interested :)
Regarding the pads and having tested both, I would probably recommend EBC yellow instead of HPS but your choice.

It wasn't my idea! But it's been successful on a gen before. Not sure what the max power is with this fuel setup, maybe 450. I am worried about my clutch, but it still looks new after a few 1000 miles so it should be OK for the dyno tuning. After that we'll see

There is another thread on the treadstone, it's the same as the tr8. A good balance between size and fin density

I'm still waiting for my stage 4 kit to get here but here is a few pics from along the way

I had to travel with my engine.. and when I put it back in my garage it was during a blizzard

Bosch/Siemens injectors, dump tube and grimmspeed gaskets

New coolant lines, this is all temporary. Eventually i'll buy a 2013 water pump which has the coolant lines for the doughnut cooler. But this works safely for now.

Do you have any issues with surge due to the Tial Q opening a touch late?

Where are you running your vac source and what spring do you have in? I am tapping in to the large vacuum hose above the injectors (the one without the check valve) and I am still getting surge, even on the white spring (the plain is what my vac is rated for according to TiAL).

You tapped the brake booster line or the vacuum generator? Niether is a good idea to use. Use my location which is the same as many others; the purge valve line. The 3/8" line where the black and white check valve is. T in front of the check valve. Also i'm running the -10 psi spring (noncolored)

Hmm, ok, thanks. I'll give it a shot. I'm replacing a lot of my hoses this weekend anyway, so that works out.

If u dont mind me asking, why did you choose to reuse the original bearings and rings if you went through all the trouble of putting in rods?

Because they were fine. For most people it's a lot of trouble but for me and my cohorts we can do a motor in an afternoon. Our cars are ridiculously easy to work on. Bring the criticism Iol
