So a month ago I recorded my Genesis Coupe Bk1 3.8 Auto starting up...to send to a friend. It made an awful sound, and people said rod knock. However, I started it up again later and people switched their opinions and said I had a timing chain issue. I got my uncle to come and he said it was actually the CVVT Sprocket...and someone on Facebook hit me up saying the Timing Chain kit PART was $430, but with CVVT Sprocket parts it's around $1200. My uncle said the sprocket needed replacing not the timing chain...and the Facebook guy said once I fix the timing chain I might as well replace other preventative maintenance things like the water pump and oil pump. Sorry, I know this was a lot to read, but can people help me search for the parts I need? I am completely lost, to be honest.

It's not so much the actual sprocket but he CCV internal parts I think. If the actual sprocket is bad it will have sharp teeth. But if there is any slack to speak of the chains need changed too.

They would be OE parts. I think the cams come with them is why they are so expensive.
