I am ready to get a tune for my 2010 3.8, and I have done a lot of searching between the forums and FB. I have contacted both SFR and BTR regarding my set-up. I was going to buy an ECU from LQK (6 month warranty and low miles) and send that in for tuning in case there are any issues with the tune, I can swap it for my original. I got the idea after reading a few posts on here. Now, I have a friend who is familiar with BTR, so I was leaning on going that way for the tune. However, after contacting them, I have found out that I must send in my own OEM ECU with my VIN in order for them to tune it OR purchase a pre-tuned one from them...to the tune of $900 (that is with the current 10% discount promotion). I read that if the ECU is not programmed with your VIN that it will "blow the engine."

Has anyone else successfully used an ECU from another car (obviously it needs to be re-flashed) when you got a canned tune? :broken:

There are plenty of used ECUs with low miles for around $100 on EBay.
