What's going on everyone? I have a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T A/T (A8LR1) and it's got that beautiful transmission problem. I've had the tranny replaced once before by Hyundai at 70K miles. The car is now at 140K miles and it's the same thing all over again. It seems to have a lifespan of 70K miles or maybe it's just my driving. The first time Hyundai replaced it they called it a "transmission flare". It shifts hard from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, etc. The RPM's climb before the trans finally catches up and that's when it jerks hard.
I currently have the motor pulled as I'm working on building the bottom end and thought it would be a good time to try and fix it myself if possible. I know this is common and I'm wondering if anyone knows what the actual physical problem is inside of the transmission causing this and how it can be fixed. I couldn't find any good posts about this. I'm reading that it could be a pressure issue and maybe the valve body needs to be replaced/refurbished. I'm assuming I need a scan tool that can access the TCU though.
