Wheel Well Lights?

So I tried searching but because "well" is such a common word on this site apparently you are not allowed to search for it and only got results for "wheel"

My question is, has anyone installed lights on the wheel wells of their car?

Im thinking about adding in two blue led strips to my front wheel wells to illuminate the tires/ground around the front wheels.

I understand that in most states (mine especially) that it is illegal to drive with led lights of any color coming off the bottom of your car especially blue, but I think it would be fun to have anyway.

The setup that I was hoping to do was to have the lights wired both to the battery with a switch so that I could turn them on and off whenever as well as have them wired into the dome lights so they come on and fade out when I unlock and lock the car.

there is a video of exactly what I want, but on a honda fit :dunno: anyone who could give me some pointers and/or pics would be greatly appreciated.. thanks

here is the vid www[dot]vimeo[dot]com/1124775

oh god ... please dont ....
Leave this kind of thing for the Hondas.
sorry you disagree... but I didn't ask whether it was a good idea or bad, more so how...thanks for the input though

and dont get me wrong... I'd love to pour thousands into my car but as a college student I don't really have the endless cash flow that it seems many here do so for the 20 or so dollars that I can spend to make my car mine and personalize it a bit I'd prefer a response with some merit
oh noes:broken:

to answer your question...

you would have to take out the wheel well
then tap the wires to fog lights
use LED's
I'm in college and I wouldn't do this. Just save your money.
Installing the lights would be the same for any car. Just google it. Most Gen coupe owners try to stay away from what is mostly considered rice. Your car do what you want with it.
I don't think doing just the front 2 wheel wells will look all that good...
People either love lights or hate them...If done right I love them!!
I have 4 strips under the car, 4 behind the wheels, 2 in the front bumper/grill and 2 inside the car...If your gonna do it, do it right!!! :) These things go with music, change to any colour you want, chase each other, fade in and out, solid colour, strobe. Did all the install myself and still ran me about $700. Send me a pm for more info if needed.
Don't let anyone shoot you down tho. Your car, your choice... gl
Please save your money, your car is already unique compared to other 99 cars around you :) and there are other cheap and tasteful (if done correctly) mods..

new emblems, interior LEDs, black-out head light housing, DIY tint, wrapping stuff in CF pattern vinyl.

All stuff that the other 99% of Gen Coupes around you have!

How true. Drop it to the ground, frog out the wheels so they stick out 3" and then stretch the tire on the rim so it looks two inches too narrow instead.
I had blue varad 1 watt LEDs on my Tib, they were mounted at the inside/top of the wheel wells. They looked pretty pimp at night. Don't do the LED strips, they never come off the way you hoped, especially because if you face the rims face-on you can actually see the LED strips which kills the whole thing.

The high output LEDs tucked way up and inside the well works best normally. Bear in mind if you do this mod you WILL need to clean your wheels/brakes/wells out ALOT otherwise you'll be illuminating a bunch of road sh*t and you'll look like a tool.

One cool thing about the Varads I had was the four of them were on a multifunction controller so I could have them pulse exactly like police lightbars from left to right, etc, it was alot of fun. I'd do it again, it was fun! :D

Don't waste your money on car parts, be they aesthetic or performace minded, save money for food, school supplies, etc.
I guess everyone goes through the phase where they think all that extra lighting is cool. I did too, don't worry, it passes.

Thanks for the input... especially since it was thread related..

When I say I don't have endless cash flow I didn't mean I was strapped for cash that bad.. obviously I'm not going to sit here going "well I really would like to be able to eat today... but those lights are just too cool to pass up"
not my cup of tea but ur car just do what you want with it, if other ppl laugh at you that's their way. If you're comfortable enough then who gives a hoot.
I laugh at noobs car all the time
yea and i just laugh back at his car, fair trade lol
