I have read a lot of posts about coilovers and lowering springs. I want to go with coilovers. I would like to drop my car from about .5 to 1 inch. Would like the option later to drop it farther. I want to get ride of the gap between the fender and the wheel. I would also like a better ride from the stock suspension and have better handling and corning. I know a lot of people say bc racing and KW variant 3. Don't want to spend over $1500. What about bilstein coilovers since they are using the shocks with the edilbrock lowering spring. Also I have read that I should get a new swap bar up front for better handling.

There is a reason you hear the KW Var 3s recommended as (one of or) the best (yes, I am running these but in addition to the cost, they dont allow the height to go as low as you say you want)...

So you want to cheaply slam your car. Lol

To go to tge ultimate " low height" you say you want, you would actually not improve your ride and/or handling. That is more for looks. When you drop liw and stiffen everything up to the max, your ride is harsh/bouncy and you arent improving anything beyond the look you want.

If you want to lower, to a respectable height, and improve your handling and driveability, you will have to pay to play...

With that said, you will get opinions all over the place and reasons why each is the way to go. Just remember this, opinions are like a$$holes, everyone's got one...

Bc is bottom shelf coilovers.
The best coiovers for your price is Stance XR1.
Lowering Gen more than 1 " only ruins handling due to suspension geometry.

Didn't think $1500 is cheap. I don't want to slam my car only about 1/2 to 1 inch. The KV var 3's is $2000. Guess im going to have to save up some more money

Stance XR1 go for $1 300 shipped.
They are inverted monotube design, where all other coilovers that cost slightly less are upright monotube- much weaker .
Next up would be KW.

PBM Pro Coilovers

When I asked about suspension upgrade, my club members (DMVGenCoupe) said PBM Pro Coilovers were the way to go. I purchased almost 3 yrs ago. Just under $1100 shipped. At BSMO, they installed and lowered @ 1 inch. I love the way it looks & handles.

Feal Suspension. Odi Bakchis' shop out here in SoCal. They also make their rear units in true coilover like MAX does. Quality stuff, good service for rebuilds, customizeable to spring rate, valving, they'll mak you 1, 2 or 3 way shocks... Check them out.

That's about my budget and honestly for the money go with coils. I personally won't run BC, but a lot of gens run them so maybe they're not so garbage anymore. From what i've read I was stuck between Bilsteins, PSM/PBM, and HSDs, but wound up going with Feals.
-Bilsteins B14 PSS were designed with the gen in mind, and you can't really go wrong with them. My issue with them is that there is no dampening control, only adjustable height.
-PSM/PBM are highly recommended, within price range, and the rear set up is a "true" coilover which is where a lot of the obsession comes from. They're quality parts, I just *personally* don't trust a rear suspension that's not a mimic of the OEM without reinforcing the rear. They give a substantial drop compared to other brands.
-HSDs are another that come highly recommended. Some of their perks from what i've heard is that they're more resilient to winters/hold up better, and it runs the mimic of the OEM rear. The issue from what i've heard is its not as substantial drop as some were looking for.

I wound up going with Feals because I got them at a steal, honestly. From what I understand they're available in both the mimicked and true coilover set up.

Your best bet though is to be using the search button at the top. There are a lot of coilover threads and what people recommend and why or why not. Also, look up GC exclusive facebook groups and search the same thing within it and you'll see more updated information since more options have come available since the beginning of some of the threads on this site.

If spring is separate from shock ,- mimics rear OEM design.
