Anyhow, tires replaced. Still vibrates.

I finally got the attention of the manager who rather than just brushed me off, listened. He is calling the other dealer mentioned above and will have some sort of answer for me tomorrow.
Yes to guibo "flex coupling" looks like two of them.

Inspect Flexible Coupling
1. Check the front and rear flexible couplings for cracks or damage.
2. Inspect the flexible coupling centering bushing. If the busing is damaged, replace the propel shaft assembly

http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...sbhds8310d.gif

Propeller Shaft Runout
1. Install a dial indicator with its needle on the center of front propeller shaft or rear propeller shaft.
2. Turn the other propeller shaft slowly and check the runout. Repear this procedure for the other propeller shaft.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Front Propeller Shaft Runout : 0.3mm (0.012in.)
Rear Propeller Shaft Runout : 0.3mm (0.012in.)

3. If the runout on either propeller shaft exceeds the service limit, replace the propeller shaft assembly.

Garage

Well apparently my friend whose car has been disassembled at the dealer for several weeks is in the process of getting a whole new car as a replacement because they can't figure out what the problem is... Not sure if that's finalized yet or what, as he lives in a different city

TIRE AND WHEEL VIBRATION AND RADIAL
FORCE VARIATION
THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES TSB# 06-50-013 TO INCLUDE 2008 MODEL YEAR
VEHICLES.
NOTE: Each wheel and tire assembly is precision balanced and force match
mounted before the vehicle leaves the assembly line. Dealers should not
alter the dynamic balance of any wheel unless a customer describes
experiencing a tire/wheel vibration condition.
DESCRIPTION:
A customer may describe a steering wheel vibration or "shimmy" condition in the
vehicle. Sources of vibration/shimmy may be from the following conditions:
1. Wheel and tire assembly out of balance
2. Wheel out of round
3. Tire assembly stiffness variation (Radial Force Variation or RFV)
RFV (Radial Force Variation) may be defined as the amount of change in stiffness of
the sidewall and footprint when a load is placed against a tire.
Wheel and tire assembly imbalance should be addressed first because it is the most
common cause of vibration. A well maintained off-vehicle, two-plane dynamic wheel
balancer can accurately correct this condition.
If a vibration or shimmy is still present after an imbalance condition is corrected, any
out-of-round condition of the wheel and force variation of the tire must be addressed.
NOTE: All of the above conditions may be addressed at the same time if
equipment is available such as the Hunter GSP 9700, which is a two-plane
wheel balancer.
For proper diagnosis, it is important that the wheel run-out and tire assembly
stiffness variations be measured and, if necessary, corrected before replacing
any component(s) on the vehicle.
COMMENT:
To correct vehicle vibrations caused by wheel out-of-round and tire stiffness variations,
access to a Hunter GSP 9700 or equivalent wheel balancing machine is necessary. If
you do not have access to such equipment, it may be located through the Hunter
website (Hunter GSP9700 Wheel vibration Control System solves wheel vibration and tire pull problems that balancers and aligners can?t fix).
For information about the purchase of a Hunter GSP 9700 and Hyundai's special
pricing, please visit website (Welcome to SPX Hyundai).
Follow the machine manufacturer's procedure to measure and correct wheel and tire
assembly RFV related vehicle vibrations.
The following assembly RFV may be used as guide:
• P-Metric passenger vehicle wheel and tire assemblies = 18 ~20 lbs or less
• P-Metric SUV and Van wheel and tire assemblies = 24 ~27 lbs or less
Page 3 of 3
Technical Service
Bulletin
Group
Number
NOTE: This information is a guideline, and the RFV range accounts for machine
variability.
If force match mounting the wheel and tire assembly to the above guideline
cannot be achieved, it may be necessary to replace a wheel or tire or both to correct
the vibration condition (see note below before replacing any part). Since tires can
sometimes become temporarily flat-spotted, the RFV should be measured
immediately after the vehicle is driven at least 10 miles. (If the RFV cannot be
measured immediately after the vehicle has been driven at least 10 miles, elevate the
vehicle on a hoist with the wheels hanging to stop the tires from flat-spotting). Tire
pressure must also be adjusted to the recommended pressure shown on the driver's
door or B-Pillar.
NOTE: If the vehicle vibration condition cannot be improved to an acceptable
level using the above procedure or a tire or wheel is required to be
replaced to correct this condition, contact the Hyundai Technical
Assistance line at (800) 325-6604.
REQUEST TO CALLING TECHNICIAN:
The dealer technician must provide the following information to the Technical
Assistance Line:
1. Customer description of the condition
2. VIN
3. Mileage
4. Tire size
5. Tire manufacturer
6. Tire condition
7. Wheel - alloy or steel
8. Wheel Hyundai or aftermarket
9. Imbalance values (inside and outside)
10. 1st and 2nd order RFV values in lbs
11. Wheel run-out values (radial and axial)
12. Location of the wheel on vehicle (RF, LF, RR, LR)
NOTE: Printed copy of any of the above information will be appreciated.

Thank you for the information. My dealer followed those instructions and had to the call
Technical
Assistance Line:
They were told to replace the drive shaft. So it looks like Hyundai is aware they have a problem. I'm at 2400 miles and still vibrating at 75+.
Anybody else with an idea how to fix this vibration?

The above TSB is dated 2008 and applies to vehicles made in 2008????? Which model was this actually issued for? Or, am I reading it wrong?

Here is link to TSB

Looks like just general information for wheel force balancing - most dealerships are blaming coupe vibration on wheel vibration - I think they have a bigger issue on their hands $$$

Yes still vibrating. The new drive shaft reduced the vibration by 80%. I think a lot of the drive shafts are bad. I think the new one that they gave me is bad too.

As I have said all along on this forum, Hyundai has a problem here. The balancing the wheels is bullshit. I had one replaced and all road forced balanced and it didn't make a difference. Wish I knew how to push this issue with Hyundai. I really love this car but the vibration will force me to by another car if they don't fix it.

Same sentiment here. Love the car but the vibration is just bs. Completely takes away from the joy of driving.

well bridgestone replaced the one bad tire and rebalanced the other front and still had slight shake in wheel. took it to a HONDA dealer with the Hunter GSP 9700 Road Force balancer and had the fronts forced balanced again. the new tire was well inside the force limits (9) the other front they were able to get down to 18. Shake is gone! even the steering feels tighter at 70mph than it used to.

Masakari, please let us know after they replace the Propeller Shaft = both pieces plus hanger - kit . Hope it resolves the vibration. I'm planning on taking my back as soon as I hear from you.
Thanks,
