Vibrations between 75-85 MPH

My car is having a bad vibration at the mentioned speeds. Haven't hit anything and just found out few days ago since I have it because didn't got to that speed before. Took it to the dealer and they said all 4 tires where out of balance and what tire was actually bad and they replaced it and balanced everything (3 hours wait). Went to the highway and I took it to 80 and same vibrations. Any idea?

Where exactly is the vibration? The steering wheel? The paneling causing sqeaking, cracking? The seat? Does the car pull one way or another?

Bubble in a tire maybe if it's the wheel shaking/vibrating. I think the same thing happend to KrakenHeadz.

The vibration is at the tires. It's weird cuz hey say they fix it and they did put a brand new tire on the rear left. But no changes at all. I will have to take it again but it sucks because I have to work next week all week and won't have lots of time. ( sAme story at this dealer with the loaner cars)

Here is the update. The dealer doesn't know what's causing the vibrations. They will have Hyundai service manager to test drive the car and see if it can be fixed. I might have the first lemon LOL. I will have to drop off the car and get a loaner. We'll see.

I have been to the dealer 2 times. They repalced the drive shaft which reduced it about 80% but still have the vibration. I'm taking it back again and telling them I want it fixed. I think the second drive shaft I got is bad too. I only have about 800miles on it. It's not the tires, I already went through that with the dealer. It seems to be a problem that Hyundai needs to fix. Ifind there are a lot of this with the 2010 coupes on the internet. I'm going to push the dearler and I'm sure that Hyundai and the dealer are going to try to get out of it. Have to see Will give updates.

Untried going back since mine still have some vibrations and they kept saying the vibrations left was normal and they couldn't find or replicate any problem. Go figure

Just took mine in for the exact same issue.

Here is what to do to replicate in other cars:

Have a half a tank of gas (doesn't do it on mine with a full tank.)
Accelerate steadily to 80-85.
All your mirrors should start shaking at this point.
Now the shaking will stop if you lift on the gas or decelerate in any manner. If you mash the clutch the shaking will stop too.

The shaking will also stop if you go past 95. At this point you are met with a low frequency hum from the rear of the car.

Can anyone confirm if this issue is with the Thorsen limited slip diff? My car is a GC R-Spec.

Mine is not a GC-Spec car I just have the Grand Touring 3.8 Automatic, but that's the problem I have. As I said in the last few replies I said they replaced the drive shaft and that took about 80% of the vibration out. I do not have the Thorsen limited slip diff. So I don't think that is the problem. I'm going back to the dealer soon and complain. I wish someone on this forum had an answer. I now have 1200 miles on it and still vibrates.

What did the dealer say when you took it in? That they couldnt replicate? I have the same exact issue with my Track. Mine starts to make a noise/vibration starting at about 70 but then 80-85 is when it is at its loudest and then goes away anything higher than that. But the sound does not go away for me when lifting off the gas or decelerate. Its actually more noticeable for me when i lift off or decelerate. I had a prob with my diff and took my car in to get it changed about 2 weeks ago and was hoping that this vib would be rectifed with the dif change as well. Well it wasnt but i cant definitelvly say its not the diff because my diff is making the same noise once again. I will have to take it back in to get changed out again. But as the other guy said it souds like a driveshaft issue.

Their official response is that they're not allowed to exceed the speed limit to test for issues.

So... they said that they were checking with the Hyundai Service Engineer that travels this part of the country for advice. They are interested in the drive shaft. Currently they are wanting the car for service for the entire day so they can try doing the quarter rotation on the shaft to see if its unbalanced.

I haven't made the appointment yet as I didn't want to be shoved in an Accent for a few days. I'll probably follow up this weekend.

Please keep us update on what the dealer says. Mine now has started to make a loud humming sound when letting off the gas pedal between 50-60. It's all coming from the rear of the car, but only notice it when the car is cold. (What next) I'm starting to think that it might be something to do with the exhaust when you back down of it. I'm at 1400 miles and this darn vibration at 70-80 is driving me nuts. I'll wait to see how you guys make out at the dealer before I take mine in. Please let us know ASAP

Thanks craig s.

Dropped mine off today. Will know something in the next day or so. Its a shame the dealership won't listen about the drive shaft issues that other GC's have been having. I'm guessing that Hyundai isn't doing a sober job balancing the shafts prior to installation.

Thanks for the update. As I said I'll wait to see what they tell you before I go back to the dealer. I bought mine at Crown Hyundai in St Petersburg Florida. Hyundai has to have a record of these drive-shafts being replaced. I would demand that the dealership follow-up with Hyundai. Let us know as soon as you hear something.
