I had a rip in my co-workers 2010 Altima 2 door. This has a 3.5 v6, 270 hp mill that has a 6 speed, front wheel drive and weighs about 170 lbs lighter than the 2010 3.8 genny coupe. Only mod to this was an intake. Performance is on par with the 2010 3.8.
...mine felt stronger on the bottom and top but the nissan pulled harder in the midrange. The throttle response in the nissan was " instant "and more polished than the genny. If anything....it made me realize that the genesis definitely needs a reflash which is coming next.

Keep in mind too the 3.8 GC in 2010 was a very fresh platform. Nissan has been refining theirs for almost a decade plus at that point. I recall the early 00's people were using those 3.5 altimas/maxima whatevers as huge sleepers, boltons+nitrous and they were holding door to door with some very fast cars.

My 2006 Altima with catback, cold air intake, and some tweaks here and there was pretty darn quick. I was right around 270 HP, but I was faster than the newer Altimas. I had a 5 speed manual which had better overall ratios than the 6 speed had. I also removed the resonator on it, since it was close to the size of a 30 gallon water heater! I exaggerate a bit, but it was heavy and huge! Faster than a 2006 350 HP Mustang GT. I have a BK1 3.8 ZF trans., and the Altima I had would not beat my GC. The engine in the Altima was an award winner, but had a penchant for eating cam chain tensioners, which cost about $4000 to fix, the engine being sideways made it cost more since it had to come out of the car. I never had the problem, but many of my friends did, and I spent half my time driving it past 90,000 miles waiting for that distinctive "Chainsaw" sound when they gave up the ship. If road racing, the thing would scare the crap out of you because all the weight was in front and it tended to plow around tight curves and corners at speed.

Also Altima's manual tranny was done away with I believe in 2012, and comes only with the "rope drive" CVT!

Don't get me wrong. I loved my Altima, but love my 2012 3.8 Track much more!
