Just something I did over the weekend. Really adds to the carbon fiber hood and trunk, makes the car look 10x better IMO!

Pics in the next post, uploading now!

-First off I cleaned the wheels after taking them off with normal car cleaner.

-I got some 400 grit sand paper and wet sanded them down then (using a hose constantly to wash off all residue)

-afterwards, I used a shammy and microfiber cloth and blowdryer to dry it all, ensuring nothing was left on there.

Then I used a Duplicolor black primer. I only did one coat, because it looked well-covered. I maybe dry sanded some areas that might have gotten junk in it.

-Let the primer dry 20-30 minutes. Then I used "Dupli-color semi-gloss black engine enamel" the one that can stand 500 degrees or something. I'll post a pic of that also.

I only used three coats, sanding down some areas in between if I messed up.

After three coats, I tried applying the wheal clear coat from Duplicolor... But I didn't like the final look. So what you see now has NO clearcoat actually.

The engine enamel paint has ceramic and such in it. So I'm not too worried about it. If there appears to be any chipping I can just do that one spot.

Hope this helped !

Ask any more questions if need be!

Edit: I also used a 2000 grit sandpaper for in between coats of color. Just so it didn't get rid of what I already laid down.

@SubtleStyle

Yeah that's the VHT Nightshade. Only one coat and 3 coats of clear. They were a little foggy so if anyone plans to do it, either sand after, or give it a nice polish.

Thank you!
Actually took 11 hours to get it all how I wanted haha. Hopefully no one has to go through that..

I did mine myself as well. I used to be a body man/paint tech before my new career. Mine took about 2 hours. Red scotch brite pads to scuff the clear coat off the factory wheels. Then use an etching primer that will bite into the metal(purchased at autozone) 2 coats. Allow to dry completely. Then i came over top with 3 coats of semi gloss wheel paint(also from autozone) very simple and you see mine in the pics :) ^glad you got yours how you wanted them bro, just trying to save some folks some time.:dunno:
