Good post for the DIY. One thing id like to do eventually is open that light up and add a few LEDs as a turn signal or driving lights similar to the newer audis. on another note, Is there a LED bulb similar to the one pictured that flashes yellow? I have a lot of trouble with police and the colors of your lights down here in miami. If youre going to be changing it an LED is the way to go but its a good idea to maintain a legal color.

Yeah but do you think the car will think the bulb is burned because of the lower power that the Led require to function ? And will cause the flasher to signal very fast....:dunno:

For the LED's you might need to buy some sort of diffusor. On my Eclipse you couldn't just plug LED Amber bulbs in. :(

Does anyone know about the LED Amber bulbs? Will they work?

I tried the LED Amber bulbs on my front and they didn't work caused both indicators not to work when my high beams and low beams are on so I ordered the chrome amber lights I tested at a shop and the chromes work as normal!

Yea I figured the LED's wouldn't work because of the different voltage. Thanks for testing!

I just bought chrome amber bulb's and about to do this install. Has anyone replaced there bulb? It looks sort of confusing. So the entire housing come out?

bump anyone?

I went onto HMAservice because I bought new bulbs for my DRLs/highbeams and it does look like you'll have to remove the whole headlight assembly to access the back and replace the bulbs. The pictures they have on there do show the bumper still on the car (I remember someone once posting that the bumper had to come off to get the headlights off), so I would assume that shouldn't have to be removed. But go check out HMAservice.com yourself, it'll be a good guide when it comes time for you to do this anyways.

I hope you don't have to remove the bumper to remove the headlights . . . .that would be a huge pain. Can anyone confirm this?

I'm going to say that it doesn't have to be, as HMAservice makes no mention of removing it, nor do they show it removed from the car.

Sorry I may have just caused more confusion with my last post then before, as most people probably don't remember that post that said it would have to come off.

That's been established. Brandon, I removed the two bolts as shown in picture one but I couldn't pull the headlights out. There pretty tucked in there, it felt like removing the bumper (which is not a option for me) is the way to do it. Do you have any other suggestions? I really want to get these chrome bulbs in there, and it should be simple but of corse not!

Urgh! I don't know then, I haven't actually taken the time to actually try to remove mine yet. The steps from HMAservice look so easy, I just assumed it would be. Sorry I can't be more help. I might wait to throw in my new DRL/high beam bulbs until I do have to remove my bumper to install my M&S Type D grille.

This is such an easy mod. I gotta do it. I am wondering if I could simply take the yellow tint off the stock bulbs. That is if it is just tint and not yellow glass. White is so much nicer looking than amber. I't's legal where I live so thats not a concern. Anyone know if it is tint or not and what work remove it? Before anyone laughs I do remeber back in the day that automotive bulbs had tint on them.

Just buy an LED flasher. That way you don't have to wire in a resistor. You just unplug the factory one and plug the aftermarket one it. I've had mine installed for about a year now. I got the flasher from Advanced Auto for like $10 or something like that. It's the same one that all the Tiburon folks used. I'll try to get a part number when I go home.

I took out the amber bulbs and replaced them with clear ones for signaling ( legal where I live ) and also did the tape trick so the park lights aren't on all the time. Looks way better with just the projector beams only. Replacing the amber bulbs with clear ones also makes it look better during the day time as the whole headlight assembly is clear and not thrown off by an amber bulb.

All in all with these LED bulbs in term of look, I would love to get one like this one for more authentic look (either from IS and SFR even though both are diff prod)
Anyone up for the challenge on making a DIY guide for this installation? that would be awesome :). Oh and while at it, make one for the side corner signal too (also in the image) :D.

I think for that one you'll need to remove the headlight. As for the wiring part, not even sure if you have to do any wiring or it's plug and play, which would be awesome!

the headlight comes out no problem... no need to remove the bumper. 2 bolts and 1 plastic screw to take out each headlight.

its easier to just remove the whole headlight assembly to do any of this work.

ps the leds do work, but a flasher is needed to keep the flashing at a normal pace.
