Not so....what mods are we talking here...because mod for mod as far a bolt-ons go, the GC makes huge gains compared to the 370. I/E or I/H/E and the GC will at least match the 370Zs output. Everything I have seen hows the VQ37 losing power on the 370 and G37 with basic I/E. And making minimal gains with I/H/E.
With all due respect, I suggest you visit myG37.com and the370z.com and do a good amount of research, before making false claims.

The VQ37VHR and VQ35HR have great gains throughout the whole powerband from basic bolt ons and tunes. I've been around those communities for years and know how great the VHR/HR is when it comes to modifications.

I myself own an 06 G35 Coupe 6MT (VQ35DE revup) and have documented every single modification, along with dyno runs in the same exact dyno. The only mod that failed at producing any significant gains was an intake (the VQ35DE is known to not gain anything off of intakes). Every other mod produced decent gains throughout the powerband.

The VQ35DE produces significant gains from the right bolt-ons. But the newer VQ's respond much better to modifications than the older VQ35's; significantly better than the older VQ35DE.

Yea I dont know where all these people get their info. The ONLY VQ motor that got crappy gains from mods was the VQ35DE which was the 03-05. And even then if you got GOOD parts the gains were decent. The 06 is still a DE motor but its an inbetween generation where they were about to go to the HR motor, but it still performed much better then the 03-05 DE's. I think the heads were different.

Let me start off by saying....Street Racing is illegal, is NEVER safe; no matter how late at night it is or how empty the road looks, always dangerous.

I can't say I dont condone this act, because not only am I guilty by associtation, but also because I used to street race as well...

Now let me state the FACTS.

350Z, most likely a Series 1 or 2 base or performance model.... S1 2003-2004 S2 2005-2006, Which these early design of the VQ35DE only made about 230-260hp at the wheels (depending on the dyno, and climate)

the GC, clearly with a V6, makes 260hp at the wheels, and with the factory reflash coming to our dealers... will bump it up to 275ish or even 280+(being a little unrealistic)

the 6-spd gears in the GC is shorter(shifts right into the powerband), while the 350z's transmission gears are longer(falls out of its power band in 1st and 2nd)

What we dont know is the trim level on either car.

For all we know the 350Z shown could be the Top-of-the-line Enthusiast model, which is also the HEAVIEST, having nearly every option loaded into the car, making it weigh significantly more than a normal V6 GC coupe.

Another thing to note is the fact that the early 350Z's have many problems, and especially a transmission problem where the syncros, would wear out, making undue pressure on the gears, causing unwanted wear from excessive friction, making the car down on power, from the transmission sucking up the power due to the unwanted friction.

But enough making excuses for the Z.

Fact is.... the 350Z is of an older production on an older engine design that doesnt make much power, and the GC is new, cheap, and makes great power.

Oh, BTW, the 2003-2006 350Z's didnt respond well to mods due to the fact the factory parts were already high-flowing. Most had to get a reflash at the least to get some decent gains on their mods, and even then, they were nowhere near impressive... most of the owners either went and got forced induction by way of superchargers or single/twin turbos, or even nitrous.... and eventually either sold them, or traded them for the more powerful 2007 models, or the new 370's.

Although most of what you said is accurate, coming from a 350z owner here, the VQ35DE 350z (2003 model) will pretty much be a stale mate between the two cars. They are equal in a straight line with the victory going to either side based on the 1/4 mile numbers I have come across. The stock VQ35DE 350z is good anywhere from a 13.6-14.2. The later HR models (07+) will run low 13's all day long. The 370z even though I seen a time of 13.1, it trapped 107mph in the 1/4 which is good for a high 12sec car stock.

your mom

i kid i kid.. but to help you with your argument..what does a stock 370z do in the 1/4? from what i have seen a 13.5 in the 1/4 is pretty close to what people are getting. some maybe faster some maybe slower but i have yet to see a stock gen coupe go as fast anywhere close to the same time.

guys you need to realize that the dif between the 350 and the 370z is night and day. the 370 is much more powerful and, if i remember right, isn't it lighter than the 350 too?

I've seen stock 07 Z's run 13.1 in the 1/4 mile. 370z is a lot faster than a 13.5.

got vids or time slips of that by chance?

edit: nm i found some info...you're right it could run that fast with a great driver and perfect conditions...i bet the 370 goes 12's under the same conditions.

Would you like for me to post the chart from my350z.com of the top 25 Track times? They have a complete list of members over there with Track times broken into various categories based on mods and year of the vehicle. Fastest track time recorded for a VQ35DE 100% stock down to the tires 350z is 13.6.

if you want to i guess..but i believe you...i was just looking at some of the reviews of the 370....man that's a beautiful car!

Yeah, I so wish I could trade my 350 in for the 370. An older guy about 3 houses down from me has the light blue 370. I swear I never see him drive it....only cleaning it..

I personally clicked off a 14.1 as my fastest ET in my 350z bone stock down to the tires and spare tire in the trunk. That was only after my 3rd and final pass. I only got 3 passes in before having to leave. I felt a 13sec run could have been had that night since I wasn't launching the car that hard. I haven't been back to the 1/4 mile with it since then, I bought it for the purpose of Drifting anyway. My other car I use for straight line speed.

Well I don't condone street racing & I try not to get lured into it, but I do speed at times as I get frustrated & pass some asshole on the highway doing 55mph in the 65mph fast lane. When I say speed I may bounce up to 100+mph & drop back down. I'm careful & know it's dangerous, I slow down relatively quickly. But. C'mon I avg 75-80mph on the highway anyways. I recommend getting the **** out of my way, esp if I flash my brights...LoL

Well, I can't speak on the street racing thing. I have over 30+ vids on my youtube of me walking on various cars....so guilty as sin. But I'm preparing for Redline Time Attack and the street racing era for me has pretty much come to a stand still. Then again, I've spanked so many cars around here, no one wants to race the carbon fibered front end Scion tC anymore...lol.

Yeah, I'm confused too. i wish I read this thread sooner.

As for the comment about bolt on for bolt on the GenCoupe is better I think needs to research more. I'm not saying which one is better as it all depends on the mods and more examples.

With my mods I broke over 300rwhp+ on a mustang dyno that is notorious for showing lower then average numbers compared to other mustang dyno's.
