OK I saw one of these on a local GenCoupe and asked the owner Wild Bill how to do it at a recent meet. Well we never really got around to talking more about it due to more fun things going on. So I went Googling and found a Texas company that makes these flash units called KahTec.
The mod takes about 20mins after seeing this you should be able to do it as fast or faster. This was done on a 2012 3.8 track.

First thing you want to do is remove the trunk plugs:
Second find the wiring harness and remove some loom from the two wires going to the 3rd light in wing in my case Green was 12V and Black was ground. The KahTec unit comes with 3 wires Red Blue Black. Then be sure to connect them as seen here. If you flip flop the red and blue connection from KahTec on the green harness then the light will not blink but it will work as normal.
Last step is to locate and apply some double sided tape to flasher and stick to your favorite location. Then secure trunk lid mat and close trunk.
