I have been looking for the answer to this question for a while cant really find a specific answer. I mean I am sure I can prob figure it out on my own but I always like to have confirmation.

I am going to plastidip my car in the next few weeks. As soon as I decide what color I want. But until then I am doing research on how dip works in the first place. I have don't a decent amount of research already. The one thing I cant seem to find...

Do you have to clay your car to remove all the wax before you dip it? If you don't HAVE TO, is there an advantage to removing all wax first? Or no?

Only reason I don't think you should have to is because you can spray plastidip on windows, headlights, rims, paint, plastic, pretty much any surface and it adheres so I don't see why waxed paint would be any different then like a headlight plastic or glass window or panoramic roof. But I just figured I would ask for your professional opinions first!

Wait until we move into our new 16,000 sq. foot facility in the next few weeks. We are going to have a full studio and start producing some incredible media this summer

I appreciate the kind words! A lot of work goes into those videos.

Easily still the best tutorial videos I have found for DIY on youtube. The quality of your work shows, clearly the effort you are putting into the videos is paying off if you guys are up-sizing to a 16,000sq foot facility congrats! I am excited to see some of the videos you guys come up with now!

If I could ask for one tutorial in specific I would ask for this one... How (if possible) could one hard wire a radar detector to a smart rear view mirror. I know its possible to do that... but I have no idea how. That is a cool tutorial idea IMO.

Keep up the awesome work guys!

No need to remove wax, if anything I would keep it on to provide somewhat of a barrier between the dip and your paint. There is bound to be tiny specs of debris that stay between your dip and your paint, the wax will make sure its not contacting your actual paint.

Take this all with a grain of salt though, i'm just spitballing on that. But I'm 100% confident that whether you remove the wax or leave it on you will still be able to reap full benifits from plastidip. Just don't sand anything down before you dip, then it gets hard to remove.

Honestly I was thinking about it and thats the whole reason I posted this! Because in my head I thought "oh its a great idea to leave the wax on because it will just further seal up your paint!"... But then I was thinking what if it doesn't stick and I spend all this time dipping my car and then it doesn't bond properly!? lol so I deff agree with your logic I will most deff be contacting dipyourcar.com and I will most deff post the response I get from them immediately so I can share the knowledge with all the rest of you guys/girls.

Just wash your car normally, dry good then dip. No need to do anything else

Ok so I got an official response from DipYourCar.com

What they said is to remove any wax from far prior to spraying the car. This is the words from them I am thinking that I will wait a few weeks after I have last waxed my car go for a normal wash dry the car, then spray it a few weeks out from its last wax. But I just wanted to go ahead and give you the info I got from them.
