The RFL is a metal piston valve. It will always have leakdown. Just like your engine in your car. We have used this valve design for over 10 years, functionally it works very well. The leak down percentage in relationship to your turbocharger cfm is really inconsequential.

While we know this is not a glamorous truth of the valve. We have proven over and over that it is a better valve over the oem valves used on cars over the years.

Thanks for the clarification. Also does the piston have to be greased/oiled occasionally. And how much louder is the rfl vs the type H?

 

I typically say once a year take the piston out and spray wd-40 on it then wipe it clean. The RFL is roughly 20 db louder. The horn is pretty good at directing sound.

Does the rfl type h bov have the chirp sound like the hks ssqv 4?

 

My RFL doesn't noticeably leak. I have had it installed a little over a year and it still performs and sounds great. It mostly just gives off a super loud woosh, but I do occasionally get a little whistle. Overall, I have no complaints and I love the valve.

 

Typically, from my experience, the noticeable leaks are due to the fact that the valves are not installed correctly on the adapter.

 

Once I got my spring trimmed to the right length, I haven't had a single issue. No leaking I can hear or tell on the gauge, and no surge.

 

TurboXS actually has a specific spring for the GC. They sent me the right spring at no charge.
