I know this is gonna come across as crazy on here but is a 1 watt LED the lowest i could go. I would like a little more subtle lighting. Like setting a mood......

And not just the floor. Maybe a couple or one in the back as well if it can be toned down a little.

With those strips I was talking about, theres like 12 LED's on them. At night, they were too bright (IMO), so I just put a piece of electical tape over every other LED to cut the brightness in half. Now its nice and subtle, which I prefer.

I like the lighting stuff also. I really like the "moon lighting" look that the infinity G35 has. It is like two small lights that shine on all the controls. Really nice at night. Are those led's also?

I got a couple sets of these little accent lights and tucked them under the dash in the foot well area and IMO it's perfect, just enough light to look good, but not enough that it's bright and annoying.

They were $13/package and I bought two packs.

You aren't in Canada so obviously Canadian Tire isn't an option for you, but you may find something similar in an auto parts store or walmart.

I can get you some ingle LED's that are bight on their own. I use them in my vents. WHen your back up in the DFW, we'll meet up and I'll show you some stuff.

Alex, I'm sure we can figure something out, I have lots of different ways to do things.

I like the idea of having LEDs on the door edge. Just would rather have them on the bottom of the door rather than the side.

Maybe another possible project for me :p. I still have to cast fire up my foundry and cast my lost wax parts :p.

The foot wells come on with a switch.
Where do you put the switch, out of curiosity?

Cost to install? Like $20, it seriously takes about 15 minutes. Each LED strip has two wires, a power and a ground. Buy some extra wire, and connect the two power wires together, and run it to a power source (in my install, the cluster console fuse. The fuse box is accessable by opening the driver side door.) Then you just run a wire to connect the two ground wires together, and connect it to a bolt somewhere underneath the steering wheel. All the wires fit perfectly behind the center console, as theres space back there to run wires, and tuck behind the carpet.
Hrm, can you take a picture of the fuse box? I haven't looked, I don't think I'll have a difficult time finding it, rather just where the wires connect in it.

Anyone know where i can ambient lighting for my 3.8 Track???? I know there are LED lights replacements for all the existing lighting but i would like ambient LED like i have in my Acura RL. Does anything or has anyone heard of this before??????
Here is a simple and cheap mod I posted on another forum...3 pack LED's $7.99 @ PepBoys, I didn't do the foot wells yet but it won't be hard to add a few more LED's I think one of these per foot well is enough.

When you pop off the side fuse panel, there's a diagram telling you what each fuse is for. The "Cluster Console" is what I believe is the name of the fuse. It turns on every time the car is started.

You just bend the power wire on one of the metal contacts on the fuse, then you just re-insert the fuse and push it in. Done. Everytime power goes through the fuse, the power will also go to the LED power wire, therefore LED's turn on.

Ambient lights automatically turn on ONLY when doors are open - how to?

So has anyone wired up footwell ambient LED lighting so that those lights turn on ONLY when the dome lights come on (i.e., automatically turn on when you open a door)? That's the setup I want. I don't want the footwell lights to be on constantly, and I do not want to manually turn them on/off using a switch.

So, I just need to know where/how I should wire them in so that they light up only when a door opens and then gradually fade to off (like the dome lights do) when the doors close. I checked the fuse box diagram, but didn't see any fuse dedicated for the dome lights.

Any help would be appreciated on how to wire for this type of "fade to off" setup. Thanks!

I haven't done mine this way, but this is also what I want. Now that it's winter and bitterly cold (Only -4*F/-20*C lol) I doubt I'll be doing much if any work on the car, but if I get a chance to do it before spring I'll definitely post up some information.

I have blue LED's in my footwells. I picked blue to match all the other lighting in the car. Two LED strips (each strip has like 12 LEDS), were $24 total. They stick right underneath, and the Genesis Coupe has perfect places under there for them. I wired them to the Cluster fuse, so as soon as the car is turned on, the LED's turn on.

I'm a big fan of lighting myself. In my civic, I had led's in all my vents, so the vents glowed as well. It was cool then, but now when I look at them, I think they are a bit ricey now, and wouldn't put any LED's in the GC vents. However, I think the LED's in the footwells look very nice, and alot of people compliment them. Personally, I think thats the only place where extra lighting looks nice. I actually put the lighting there because when I carry stuff, I dont put it on the seat, i put it on the floor. Lights anywhere else, like the vents, door sills, under the side mirrors etc... look a bit tacky.
Is there a switch to turn the lighting on/off? It would seem weird to have them on during the day...and sometimes you just might want to have them off at night.

I might get them if you are able to do that.
