Who are you hearing they blow-up at such a low mileage..far below the warranty? There is at least one person on this forum and I believe several who have north of 200k miles on their 3.8 engine. That engine is still in use on some models. Engines usually blow up because of poor maintenance and treatment. My BK1 2.0T had 134k miles on it when I traded the car and it still ran like new.

I have heard of a few spun bearings, but on the whole I don't think it is widespread. Maybe I am wrong. Others can weigh in.
