You can probably get 600-700 hp out of the 5.0 before it blows. You didn't say which Genesis, or which engine.

I wouldn't recommend putting the engine in the interior of your car. It would be very loud and hot.

OP, its going to depend on the year, 2.0t or 3.8, etc.. You will have to be a bit more specific before anyone can really help you.

I don't think there is any real answer to this question, even if we knew the engine model and year. Nobody has blown up a GDI 3.8 yet, so that's out. I don't think anyone has blown up a 13+ 2.0T yet?

As for the older engines, well I think a few people have had issues with both around the 450-500 whp range

Edit: Horsepower doesn't blow engines.... Torque does, so technically he should have asked how much torque can the stock block take...

Whew... I am so glad you cleared that up. I was afraid my electric turbo was going to blow my engine up.

In spite of all the fun going on here, there is a hint of truth in what is being said.

First: Model year and engine type makes a huge difference in the answer you are going to get.

Second: HP doesn't make a hill of beans difference where the engine's "interior" is concerned. HP doesn't break rods, cams, pistons, and etc.

Third: What the heck is an engine's "interior" anyway? I do realize that there is an "interior" of the engine since there is an "exterior"... but what are we talking about? The oil... if it's where it's supposed to be is in the engine's "interior"... does that have to be "upgraded" to handle more power?

Fourth: The question is so elementary that even if it was asked properly would not result in a usable answer. An answer of one billion is as good as ten since knowing the answer doesn't help with an engine build anyway because there are no set answers. Stephen Johns is pushing over 470 whp on his stock engine and breaking everything but the engine... I was pushing over 360 whp on my stock engine with no issues whatsoever. I've seen engines blow up at 250 whp or less because of poor fuel and torque management.

Fifth: It doesn't matter what you type as an answer because some people won't even bother reading it anyway. I spent a couple of weeks putting together http://www.gencoupe.com/new-member-section/216521-ultimate-genesis-coupe-newbie-guide-modding-must-read.html... but do you think the OP read it? Has anyone else, because the answer to that very question is contained within that guide.

Sixth: If you are going to criticize folks for not answering the question, how about providing a viable answer yourself? Don't know the answer yourself? I refer you to the above link.
