For the price of building the theta up to full potential, or to swap motors, I could get a heavily modded S13, S14, R32 GTS/GTR, or even a lightly modded R33 GTS. I've completely given up on trying for more power with my genesis.
you say heavily modded. whats consider heavy modded?

Well I think the Thetta will become more of an option for huge HP when parts become more affordable. Intake manifold, pistons, rods, turbo's but untill then your need to spend more money then its worth to make 500whp.

Let talk the Thetta idea over for best case senerio. Pistons rods I've seen selling on ebay for roughly 500 each, 1000 bucks plus labor for install and hone(say I pull the motor my self) 800, larger turbo gt35r 1200 t3 fab my flange 150 and customize dp 100, upgrade fuel pump 200, fuel pressure regulator 150, may need bigger then 750cc injectors 400, clutch and flywheel upgrade 1000 ?, upgrade FMIC and piping 800, time to tally

500+1000+800+1200+150+100+200+150+400+1000+800= 6300-1500(selling price of current parts) 4800 without an random items!
why dont you do the installs urself? it'll save alot of money. PLus u gotta know some people in the industy for some cheap prices. i thought about getting my own car BUILT but idk. ive spent $$$$$$ on my past three Cars and idk if i wanna do it again! I rather have a HOUSE with all the money i spent! hahaha. Bout 6k you could have a FULLY Built MOtor. 6k in most cars u'll have a Fully built motor. I can get Rods and Pistons for 800-900.oo Dude i already sent off measurements to get a custom Alumi Drive shaft! LOL

im going to swap a VQ35 into my Genesis Coupe!
^ugk and very gay. and gengray38 and tony20tgen u both need to just let the cars talk lol jk
hahah dont call me GAY! i was only kidding about it! i shouldve gotten a Z instead of my Genesis COupe then if i did that!

LoL like RMR and their Gen?
yeha.

I mean you can only take a 4banger so far. IVe own a 00si Civic that had about 450hp in 02, 450hp EVO and 500hp 2g talon. Im telling you right now 350hp-400hp Genesis coupe is all you'll ever need. its still Street-able, it wont have u broken down on the side of the road. it'll start every morning! LOL

Yup and my car will have 400whp with some light mods and have a v8 rumble. N/A power ftw! Heck, if I feel like boosting, I may slap a supercharger on and escape Earth's gravitational pull!

wrong. can u put a cummins motor in a bug? no. can we afford a lambo motor? no. do we want a trustworthy classic motor in a 4 seater car that noone would expect to be up there with some cars...yes. if i wanted a vette i would have bought that. but i dont. i wanted a car that had different style and appeal and the coupe is the perfect example.
I think you took me a little to literaly.

I'm eagerly awaiting Ninjaman's swap.

I give it a few years though and hope that Hyundai will see the light and shoehorn a V8 with at least 400 horsepower into the engine bay. The number one request for the refresh in 2012 was a bigger engine/more power, and they have a tendency to listen to their customers.

i did. lol but being truthful i will be doing this with a ls2, cam, heads, custom headers, and if i want some fun sum n20 to shoot away

It is all good, would love to see it put in the Gen.

What about the Tau 4.6 in the sedan? If it was able to fit into the engine bay all of most of the electronics/ abs/ harness would be the same or very close i'd think.
It's been stated over and over that it won't fit. Last I checked though, nobody has tried.

The question isn't if it will fit, it's how much work will be required to get it in there. If I hadn't gone the direction I already have with my car, I would have looked into an LSx swap myself or possibly a Tau V8 swap. I'm sure the investment I've made would have allowed me to do either. I think that an LSx is fun and all but it would undoubtedly be cooler to "keep it in the family" and shoehorn the Tau in there. The only trouble with the Tau is that it doesn't quite make as much power as a GM crate motor so some pre-installation massaging would be in order for sure.

Cummins Southern Plains - B 3.3 Engine

I strongly believe that the Gen coupe should have had the 3.3 or 3.8 as the "base" engine and the 4.6 as the up model.
Hyundai claims the 4.6 won't fit, what they mean is that they couldn't justify the extra engineering costs to fit the 4.6 engine into a car that they were trying to sell for a lower cost.
I wish they would have... it would have limited sales (vs. the cheap price of the 2.0) but it would have brought a LOT of street cred to hyundai. Imagine that, being able to compete with the pony cars on a level footing instead of just playing with the v6 ponies.

Also consider that the 4.6 is in a luxury car and is optimized for smoothness and quiet. If you put a cold air intake and free flowing exhaust I bet you it would produce 400 crank horsepower EASY.

Very true. I think there definitely is potential there and I would seriously consider getting a second GC if hyundai decided to put the 4.6 in the next generation.

Just remember that if they actually care about speed (and not just brand status), and they can afford a Lamborghini, they can afford to mod too.

Good luck. :D

Once again, someone has a different view than you, you go and flex your muscles. It's just the way you say it, that perhaps rubs people wrong. You want to run against a 200K car, go ahead. If it makes you feel better about yourself, all the more power to you.

Reminds me of a Pass Time show I saw. Guy had about 1000HP in his Gallardo, blew it up at the line...ooops
