I don't really understand what all of you are after. If you wanted 335-esque performance, why didn't you get one of those? Especially, if you have the money as you claim. Why buy a 2.0T just to swap in a big block a year or two later? And, yeah it seems like building the engine with a new turbo is anywhere from $5,000 to $7,000, but isn't that still cheaper than trying to swap in some other motor and then upgrading that? I guess you all thought you were going to buy a 2.0 liter turbo, spend $3,000 and have 500 whp???

Personally, I don't blame vendors for being hesitant to pop out turbo kits or parts for this platform. The one who did produce a really good kit (Lovefab) with excellent results couldn't make enough money to justify keeping the car. So for all the talk everyone makes about their goals of getting 300+ whp or whatever, nobody really seems willing to pay for it. If there's no market, then companies aren't going to step into a non-existent niche.
Um 2 answers I have a 335i already maken 420whp (wife drives it) and I already have 300hp+ in my GC look at signature.

I believe Ninjaman is working on an LSx swap as we speak so he would be good to ask as far as that type of project goes. As far as the theta being weaksauce, I'll have an answer for that soon enough.
Ya Im sure if I built it like you did it will become man sauce but I only have 1/3rd of the money you got to do it.

3 or 5 years down the road, these car will become used cars. People will be able to purchase them for much cheaper. There WILL be good occasions to make engine swaps (VGA cars, stolen/recovered and stripped...). It's a valid option that will become more and more interesting as time flies by and I don't see why it would be silly to look at it now, especially if what you have in your hands is a good platform.

because we can lol thats like telling 32 duce coupes not to put big blocks either. we all work hard for our cars and some of us do want to follow eachothers steps we want to do something that will have people talking.

Sorry for not posting much, guys. Been busy at work! :). Anyway, my ls2 motor swap project is going well. I wa originally going to swap an LQ4, but decided against it and let my dad keep the motor for his Camaro.

So far, I have all of the mounts and the driveshaft was easy. The only thing we are trying to work out is on the electronics side of the equation. Let me tell ya, it is a pickle, but it will be a hurdle that can and will be passed. Anyway, keep an eye out.

Finally, to those that think this swap is expensive..... I LoLed. It is really not bad and pretty much on par with beefing the hell out of the theta...

LSX is by far probably the biggest bang for your buck, BLU808 fabrication is or has done this already IRRC.
I cant wait for Ninjamas! +1

Some of you guys's swap ideas are straight up twisted.

Its funny that you guys mention the SR20 as possible option, as if it were a whole lot better.
Stock s13 SRs didnt make that much HP out of the box either.
they dyno in at around 170ish whp.
Go big or go home.

In all honesty you're better off buying a ls1 corvette and just modding that.

The price on them is so cheap now its insane:$9-14k not including the used parts you can purchase to really open that sucker up

Or if you want 400+whp...just buy Lovefabs setup and not have to worry about motor swapping and engine building

Just sayin'

See, I want what Hyundai should have placed in this car to begin with. An all aluminum v8.

+1 to 1st and rspectx :). They know what's up!

Go Fast Duh!

Ya cant wait to see Josh's theta monster and how that turns out(im sure good) and the ls2 swap should be pretty interesting. I guess for now Im stuck with 350hp which 90% is enough but I live in Miami Home of the exotics.
No matter how fast your Gen, or anyone else's is, do you really think the owners of the exotics care?? With enough money, anyone can drop an engine in any car, and make it faster than any so called exotic. So what is your point? Not trying to start anything, just trying to keep it real. :dunno:

Damn, Tony. You opened up a can of worms with this thread. lol That's why I haven't said a damn thing about my swap for quite some time.

wrong. can u put a cummins motor in a bug? no. can we afford a lambo motor? no. do we want a trustworthy classic motor in a 4 seater car that noone would expect to be up there with some cars...yes. if i wanted a vette i would have bought that. but i dont. i wanted a car that had different style and appeal and the coupe is the perfect example.

Seriously, what is your point? I'm happy for you that you have proven that the 2.0T can be built up. You need to take it down a notch in regards to calling people out. I have no desire to race you or anyone one else. I could care less if your car is faster than mine. This guy, as in me, am a douche bag?? Why, because I disagree with you? I'm 45 years old, and do not wish to get into an e-war with you. :hsugh:

im going to swap a VQ35 into my Genesis Coupe!

Damn so much negativity in here!

"Cant we all just get along?"

We all are here for the same reason, talking about our cars and its possibilities. Many have different options and let it be that way, who cares who is fast and who isnt, in the end its just all personal preference and not a competition where you win something if you blow the doors off of a lambo with his hot ass girl toy in the passenger seat.

On another note, there are plenty of opportunities to buy an Evo, when I bought my 08 STi (Nov 08) I bought it brand new for $29K when the sticker was $38K, and the same dealer had Evo X's for $27K, there is also a socal mitsu dealer posting all over the evo forums that they will deliver you an Evo X for around $29K, you just gotta find the deal and find out about incentives and so forth and grab the dealer by the nuts, like I did. I traded in my 15K mile 08 STi completely stock with cheap aftermarket wheels (in order to keep my SSRs) for an even trade on a $29K stickered 2.0T Track. You can see that anyway you want, I got a track for ~$25K if you look at trade in or I got ~$29K for my STi.

Who cares, I love my Gen but it needs some more factory love or make it up with aftermarket. I was just expecting to pay $2000 in mods and get 300+ whp and wtq like my STi and thats not what is happening. So that I am a bit bitter about but, in the end I still love the car and still looking to get a decent amount of power even tho it will cost me more than a slightly bit more expensive car, thats all I am saying.
