Hey guys, I just thought it would be a good idea to have a thread with all the different headunits out there.

I have the Pioneer Avic x930BT and love it! Pics and detail to follow when I get off of work. :p

looks great. I am looking to "upgrade" my 2011 premium to a pioneer 5500BHS. But there are going to be problems. I might lose factory xm and will certainly lose the nav. Dont know if voice commands will work. Steering wheel controls will have to be added. Also the stupid dash kit is only for 09-10. The 11's have the hazard/airbag light on the center speaker not on the dash kit. So I have to buy dummy switches for $50.
It makes me wonder if it will all be worth it. So many trade offs for better sound quality...

The kit has nothing to do with year. Our Nav is the reason why our dash is different. The new kit will have the holes for the hazard/airbag button. Then you can find a non premium top bezel to fill in the old center speaker bezel hole. I believe you will lose steering wheel controls unless there already is a harness. As for voice command that will be back in the new head-unit and so will xm, just have to tell them you switched devices.

Id love for this thread to grow due to the stock headunit not cutting it for me.

I've been to a couple of shops looking for the ones that have a monitor that comes out of the radio. Looks like a stock radio but then it expands per say.

The places I've been to said that the amount of "custom" work that needs to be done would be just as much as the unit itself, which I find hard to believe...

Like to see what else people have done

Sub'd for sure, great topic Aron!

This is the only picture I could find of my headunit, I'll have to take another when I put it back in.

Android DVD headunit, rooted and running Torque.

Good unit but doesn't fit the Metra bezel so lots of reshaping required for proper fitment.

I've had two of these and both were great idk luck I guess. Or they send their seconds to Canada lol.
probably, there's like a 1/4" gap between the two panels and I know it's not just me, Titans is the same way.
100% agree, I still havent figured out how to clean up that gap in the bottom. its incredibly annoying

I'll go ahead and assume I'm the only single-DIN guy out there. Hahahahaha.

So, what's the point of this thread? Is it for posting pictures once it's all installed or is it for general questions?

Either way, I had a dilemma choosing between Pioneer AVH-X2500BT and Kenwood DDX470. Both are the same price and offer pretty much the same options including bluetooth. BUT... the Pioneer one is GPS ready and Kenwood is not. Since I am not about to spend $350 on the GPS module, I decided to go with Kenwood because one, I've had Kenwood units before and simply love them and two, it has 4v preamp outputs as opposed to Pioneer's 2v... Another thing that was appealing to me was 2 USB outputs but I JUST realized that one of them is pretty much useless because it's filled with the BT dongle, so can't really touch that one. I wanted to use both of them because I was going to use one to power up and charge the tablet that will come in the future and the second one for hardwiring into the OEM USB/AUX under the armrest.

Since I am here, is there a real reason why people can't get their OEM AUX/USB to work with aftermarket headunits? I thought it was pretty straight forward? Plus there was a diagram in the other thread that explains each wire in the radio harness....

Also wanting to know about this. Let me know if you have any luck.

siriusxm website has them, crutchfield too. Im sure there are others, but those two come to mind off hand. Im trying to figure how to avoid buying one going from premium audio to aftermarket. I dont want to have to put up a new xm antenna somewhere. The sharkfin is growing on me.

I have a Pioneer DEH-7900BT (yep, single DIN). I don't need nav or video or anything. I have my phone for that. I would like to know if anyone has found a kit like the Metra, but that matches the interior dark gray metallic color used in the '11-'12. My kit is just silver, like the '09-'10. I'll post pictures later.
