I am going to change my anti freeze this weekend. Is the old green stuff what it takes??? Also I may need to add some auto trans fluid, what does the factory call for. (I know it is a closed system but I had a leaking pan so it may need some. Leak fixed). Also P/S fuild , what is the factory call for? Thanks

FYI, the last section of your main manual has a table that lays out all fluid standards and quantity capacities your car takes. Look there and you will find all the answers you seek.

It's probably a little late, but the factory Hyundai Long Life coolant is part number 00232-19010.

Cross-referencing this part number here: Beck/Arnley Genuine OE Fluids, I'm led to believe that Hyundai fluid is hybrid organic acid chemistry, and is silicate-free. While it is green, it is probably closer in chemistry to the hybrid organic acid coolants used by other Asian manufacturers (such as Toyota pink and Honda blue coolant) than it is to traditional domestic green coolant. Traditional green coolant contains silicates, which most Asian manufacturers don't typically recommend. Hyundai doesn't call out silicates either way, but many Asian manufacturers do, and I believe the OEM coolant does not use silicates.

+1 what WildBill wrote. Note that there are different auto transmission fluids recommended by Hyundai, very specific to the car and engine combo. Even if you have to buy it at the dealer, use what Hyundai recommends.

Wild Bill. I have the 3.8 with the 6 speed Auto trans. I will check with the dealer but all my research says (owners manual, local parts houses) say they all use the same type. Now the PS fluid is a type i have never heard of before, CHF22. It is the type the BMW and Mercedes use. Pretty pricey. Anti Freeze is just plan old Green.

I will double check my manual tomorrow against what you are asking and what I have and let you know what I did.

Well just look at the table and tell me what kind of coolant it says to use. Only thing it says is use ethylene glycol. Nothing else. The online service site says the same thing. I can only assume they don't want you to use the propylene glycol "safe" coolants.

Coolant

2.0L 5.81 US qt. (5.5 l)
3.8L 10.14 US qt. (9.6 l)

Mixture of antifreeze and water
(Ethylene glycol base coolant for aluminum radiator)

Here is what my 2010 manual says on page 8-4 for auto transmission fluid for the 3.8:
APOLLOIL ATF RED-1K or other brands meeting the API GL-4 specification approved by Hyundai Motor Co.
I read a chart somewhere on the forum that shows brands and types based on car model and engine. Do a search. What's the problem with buying from your dealer?
