Which upgrades?

Ok, just got my 2.0 track a week or two ago. Now, here's my question. I have the money to upgrade a bit, but I'm strictly a bolt on kinda guy. I've got no shop, and I've got no lifts, I don't know how to cut or weld, and I'm not a Saturday night racer. Given that, what if any, are the performance upgrades I want to consider? Would I really benefit from a BOV or engine stabilizer? Do I need the thing that lifts the manifold off the engine for cooler air? Do I need a larger intercooler? These things all look fun in the ads, but what will they really buy Me? Would appreciate any advice you big time tuners could give a turbo novice. Thanks.:dunno::confused:

i think he's talking best bang for the buck, with the least amount of hassle.

DynojetCMD (222/276 $400), PA Reflash (230/260 $700) , or RRM Boxes (210?/250? $???) will be your best bang for the buck bar none and the easiest install .

CP-E intake is supposed to give 15whp, so once it's had a few more dyno's that may be the next best bang for the buck.
K&N drop in filter will yield about as much power as a cat back and give a little extra turbo spool and bpv sound as well.

Skip exhaust unless you want the looks and sound, 5hp max usually from any of the systems unless you go full turbo back... Axle back will suffice if you want sound and looks
Skip FMIC unless you plan on dogging on the car with a retune
Skip blow off valve unless you plan on dogging on the car with a retune

wtf CMD gives more torque? WTF thats not right. Is It?

i'm confused this is the first i've heard of the CMD... -_-" is it a reflash like PA? or piggyback?

Piggyback with software so you, or any decent shop can adjust boost and fuel settings. They're planning on adding timing control down the line too. You can download a fuel saving map, an 18psi map, and their 23ish psi map from their website, once they post the updated ones. Full PnP available mid this month with a splice in version available now. Unlike PA, if you decide to sell your car, or just want to sell the CMD, you can since it's not married to one ECU. Unlike PA, it will not improve rev hang, remove speed governor, or increase max RPM.

hmm.... 0.o Thanks for the breakdown. I got the PA, but now i'm like "WTF" -_-" grr.. more torque would be nice... In your honest opinion which one would you choose? Just a question.

If I had to buy one now, it would be the CMD, and 99% for sure will be unless RRM's box/boxes prove as good as they're saying. I'll need to see the dynos, price, and if they're going to offer software to retune without sending the boxes off. PA reflash is an excellnt choice if you don't plan on doing more than bolt ons or live by a PA seller/tuner. If you plan on a bigger turbo, and don't live by a PA authorized tuner you're going to have to jump through hoops to get a retune. Any reputable shop should be able to figure out the CMD software and retune for your needs. Once the Timing mod is available you shouldn't have any problems running big horsepower on the 2.0T with the CMD. Even without the timing mod you should be able to control moderately larger injectors and a moderately bigger turbo with the CMD.

texasgenesis put down 231whp/312wtq with poweraxel tune & TBE

#14 ·
i'd kill for those numbers! *stab stab*

If he put those numbers down on an available tune, that would change the price performance aspect a bit and make the PA more appealing if RRM or CMD didn't make similar numbers with a TBE. 300ft/lbs is hard to beat on the stock turbo. Although Ronin made 207whp & 257 lbs/ft PA reflashed stock so I'm thinking TexasGenesis had a custom tune done or CP-E has one helluva downpipe...
