Hello all.
OK I need a cram course on what to put on the garage floor of a new house. the cement will be about 4-5 months old if that matters, and it will be in Florida.

The homebuilder says the epoxy floor is $3.50 Sq. Ft.. I don't know the process, but it has that confetti stuff on the tops. Since the garage is about 32 x 26 feet, the estimate is more than $2800 !!!

I don't have a budget for that. If I do this myself, is this a multiple-layer coating? How long does it take to dry, and does it really stink quartz flooring washington dc? I don't want to breathe that stuff for a week. Also, my wife has asthma and couldn't handle the fumes.

I don't know what I'm talking about....if you can't tell hahaha hahaha

There are three kinds, real two part epoxy, most durable and expensive probably have someone to install.

The other two are more user friendly. One oil based, noxious fumes when curing, not as durable as the true epoxy. Then water based. No bad smells but the least durable of the bunch.

All epoxies have a limited use time once starting so there you go. real is shortest to water is longest. The color flakes get put on top after the epoxy is in place.

Just like with ANY paint... PREP PREP PREP

You really want to leech out any oil that may have soaked into the concrete before apply the coating.
Otherwise 6 months to a year down the road, you'll see bubbling, where the epoxy hasn't adhere/soaked into the concrete because of the oil.

If you see where an oil spot "was" then it's not clean enough.
Also if it's been seal coated, you'll want to remove that also.

It just need to be clean enough to allow the epoxy to soak into the concrete a few mm.
